Are you talking about when Faron was with the Circle A Wranglers, based at 3rd Army Hq in Atlanta? Allen Mowry (sp?)played steel with that group. At one time Roger Miller played fiddle with them.[This message was edited by Blake Hawkins on 07 June 2000 at 06:17 PM.]

I think the steel player before Shelly Hill was Al Maury, but I don't know if he was in the Wranglers when Faron was there. I replaced Shelly Hill in January of 1960 and stayed there until February of 1961 when I was sent to France. By strange coincidence, Pee Wee Walker, the fiddle player who replaced Roger Miller, was also in France and had a band. Shelly Hill was playing with Pee Wee's band and rotated to the states shortly after I arrived in France. I replaced him again and I still have not met him.

Roy Lunn was the steel player for Faron and the Circle A Wranglers. Roy lives in Jackson, MS about 20 miles from me. We talk often on the phone and visit each other frequently. He has a designated music room in his home with loads of pictures on the wall including the Circle A Wranglers when he was with them.

George Edwards also worked with Faron. I remember meeting George in December of 1970 when he just left Faron. George ordered my Sho-Bud from Shot Jackson that same year.

When I was living in Denver in 1964 I saw Faron at the "4 Seasons" in Aurora, Dicky Overby was with him! Dicky was very young at the time, The Seasons had many top acts of that era, I also saw E.T. with Chareton& Rhodes, WOW! These were the Real Days to be into Steel!!! I also met Stu Basore at the Zanzabar, & Saw Dick Meis many times, I played some at Harts Corner With a Domland Guitar I got from Don Edwards, Sorry to ramble, but just too many great memories!!
