Every song I think of leads to three others, but here's a few that I don't think have been mentioned yet:
- I'll Be There - Johnny Bush (Dickey Overbey?)
- Big Mamou - Fiddlin' Frenchie Burke (Robbie Springfield)
- Down To Seeds & Stems - Commander Cody -Live At the Armadillo (Bobby Black)
- In Memory Of A Memory - Johnny Paycheck
(Jim Murphy)
- Sweet Dreams - Faron Young (Buddy Emmons?)
- Just Like A Woman - Ricky Nelson (Tom Brumley)
- Why I'm Walking -Ricky Skaggs (Terry Crisp)
- Time Between - Desert Rose Band (J.D. Maness)
- Truckers Cafe - Ian & Sylvia, The Great Speckled Bird (Buddy Cage)
- Jambalaya - Charlie Walker Live in Dallas
(Bobby Garrett)
- Dire Wolf - Greatful Dead (Jerry Garcia)
- I Threw Away The Rose - Merle Haggard (Ralph Mooney)
- My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You - Ray Price - (Jimmy Day-or was it Buddy?)

That's a few for now. Joe

Joe,
It was indeed Dickey Overby on Johnny Bush's "I'll Be There". Johnny is cutting a new CD as we speak and Dickey is all over it! I can't wait for Johnny to release it! By the way Joe, can't wait to see you and your band play at Scotty's Convention this year!! Way to go!!

Wayne, are you sure that was Dickey on I'll Be There? I always thought it was Buddy. It has that cool, funky midrange tone that Buddy was using in the 70's. It doesn't sound like a Sho Bud and think that is what Dickey has played all these years, right?

I wonder why nobody has mentioned yet "Christine´s Tune" by the Burritos with Sneaky Pete. Some of the most original and unbelievable steel playing ever. Also, some Waylon Jennings tunes with Mooney, for instance, "Never Been To Spain", "Lonesome Onry & Mean" and of course, "Rainy Day Woman". Talking about Mooney, don´t forget "You´re For Me" by Buck Owens. And JB Arnold is right - something by Buddy Cage does belong in there, "Panama Red" maybe being the most representative. But I could make up a Top Ten List of just New Riders Songs, anyway.
Another good BC tune would be "Meet Me In The Morning" by Dylan.
Hats off to Joe Goldmark - you mentioned some of my favorites and I put you on the list, too, with "Country Plow" by Terry & the Pirates. Completely turned my head 19 years ago.
And something by Michael Nesmith with Red Rhodes- how about "Silver Moon".
