These Two are Great Players and Deserving.

If this is true, Then it will be another year before I go to St. Louis. Because I, like some others on this forum, have decided not to go to St Louis again, until Julian Tharpe and Reece Anderson are in. I may never go to St Louis again, Oh Well!

They are both great and deserving pickers. I will be in St Louis this year. I think there are some that have been overlooked but I also agree with their selections to date.

No matter who is selected or not selected someone is not going to agree. The same with any other Hall of Fame or whatever you want to call it.

Just remember, without the efforts of the HOF committee there would not be ANY Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

Jack with the kind efforts you speak there is still not a legimate Hall of fame.Althought the people inducted up to know are more than worthy to be in a "real"one. I'd like to see the stats on the new inductees that makes them more worthy than Reece ,Sonny and Julian.

Jim, like I said in a previous thread on the HOF (Reese), this is it. If someone does not agree with it they don't have to support it and if they feel it is wrong they can start their own HOF, with whatever rules they want to run it by.

However, the vast majority consider the current HOF a legitimate entity and support it.

I think Herby an Tom are good choices for the HOF, i also think that if you want some one else in the HOF, you must let the HOF Com. know before the upcomeing conv, in order for them to have a chance for next year.I don't think just talking about it on the forum does much good, you must follow the rules to get someone in. Right or wrong there must be rules for every thing we do now days. JERRY

I hope it is Herby. He is a monster picker and a super guy and one of my all time favorites. He has helped put out a lot of lesson material that has been a great help to learners like myself. I remember when I first started there wasn't much in the way of lessons out there except a few things by Sho-Bud and Scotty. Herby is always willing to talk to you and help you. I'm sure most of the other pickers are too, but I just never got to talk to them and feel comfortable doing it like I do with Herby. I usually feel like I'm intruding on them. He is deserving.

"However, the vast majority consider the current HOF a legitimate entity and support it."

And if you don't, you are personally knocking all the individuals on the HOF committe. Could any group ever have done a better job in EVERY one's opinion?

There are rules and the first one is don't pi$$ off anyone on the commitee. Jack I'm happy you are a member of the so-called vast majority. That might get you a slot on the St/ Louis show. PS so much for secrecy in the voting by the committee.Like John Floyd I am not going until the "Gestapo" reveals what they have against Reece. Thanx for the E-mail folks I guess there are plenty of us who are not in the Vast Majority.

I got an email from a SGHOF Board member the other day that said, in part:
quote:
The Board decided last year that the inductees would not be announced prior to the Convention presentation. Yes, that is how it was until about 3 years ago. Since that took the "surprise" out of things, we decided to go back to the way it had been given in year's past. Only the two inductees have been notified that they are being inducted. Scotty advises the recipients at Christmas time (their gift!!).
I don't know who the inductees are, and I'm a bit annoyed that the Forum was used by a third party to "announce" something that the HOF wants to keep quiet. Given his open hostility towards the HOF, I have to wonder where Mr. Hall got his information.

I'm just a bystander here, but I'm not willing to believe anything about this year's inductees until a HOF Board member announces it.

Bobby,
I was amazed at the BMW's that were posted about this.(bitchers, moaners, whiners)
I think they should stand back, take a couple
of deep breaths, and look at the garbage they
just put on the forum for all to see. Really
not vary constructive is it?

b0b I am amazed that when one seeks the truth and supports old friends that it is consided BMW. If all anyone wants to see and hear on the forum are less than the truths OK.....I think the latest two inductees named are excellent choices however until you tell me I can't support Maurice Anderson who deserves entrance I feel every opertunity I can stand up for Reece is not out of order or whining. Many of us have tried to use the process that has been posted on the Forum with little or no results or even to answer if any of our request have been denied or even consided. There are many of us who know the reason and point out how small minded people carry grudges.I harbor no ill feelings for the hall of fame, just the politics. How I recieved what is suppose to be good information came from only a few miles up the road from you in California. He was suppose to have recieved it from somebody involved. If it turns out not to be true then I will reveal his name because I only like to deal in the truth.

I thought the 1st Rule in posting was to attack the issue, not personal attacks. I'm only showing support for two of my friends and the only avenue of protest I have left is not to go to St Louis and spend my money there at the convention. I'm bowing out of this one to avoid further arguement with the" vast majority" .

There are some very good shows, Such as The Texas Show, The Oklahoma Show, The Steeling For Hearts Jam and The Saluda Shows which are great shows in their own right and appeal to me much more than The St Louis Show.
