He said does AGE effect your playing! Except for two people, you guys are a bunch of kids.I didn't really start playing until Dec 20th,1998 when I was 64 and turned 65 Mar 3rd. So I guess you could say I started when I was 65. My Sugar Booger agreed It was time I got a new steel, set up the way I wanted It which was the Emmons setup. I am very blessed that my right hand Is much more fluid than my left. I've always liked the slow ballads so I've not really tryed to play fast. I'm 69 now and the age hasn't bothered me on the songs I want to play on the steel, but I'm sure a lot slower on my Tele. Bob Carlson.

Darn it, Bob, saying that makes me feel young (er). But when you get to thinking about it, you are only (yuk yuk) 13 years older than me, and that don't seem like much. Now I'm all confused, ---- think I'll go practice now. Stay well in AZ, one of my favorite places (at the right time of the year). Steve ---- still a kid at heart!!

Bob Boydd (formerly with Hank Thompson) was playing a gig out in Winchester California. I thought you guys would enjoy this: Bob told me this real cute gal who appeared to be in her middle twenties kept smiling at him every time she would dance by his steel. He thought she was really digging him. On the break, she walked up and started talking to him. The first thing out of her mouth was: "You look just like my Grandpa!" He said he was depressed for the rest of the week. [This message was edited by Jim Bob Sedgwick on 31 October 2001 at 08:15 PM.]

I'57 now.The kids I play with carry everything, set me up and tear me down,so I use the most equipment that I can. They made a deal with the Devil just to have a steel player. Sure makes it easy for a picker over 50.Now if I could just get them to drive me home after the gigs so I could sleep.

Well, I turn 66 on Nov. 10. I have emphysema, asthma, and asthmatic bronchitis and I'm playing better than I ever played ...which ain't saying an awful lot. I enjoy it as much as ever, I just do it less. I'm not as fast as I once was, but I'm as fast once as I ever was... Are we still talking about pickin"? ------------------ John Paul Jones GFI U-12 Evans FET500 amp ART T2 effects HM-4 harmony machine

Im 64, half blind, 2 titanium knees (with no feeling on the surface so knee pedals kinda make me bleed sometimes)I like to think Im smarter than I was when I was young but who knows? Like Steve said it does give you time to develope "good taste", only druthers are I wish I had started sooner and kept at it all these years. Make yourself happy and everyone else cant help but follow.------------------ Chuckieboy Sho-Bud Prolll Fenders d8 t3

I am 67 and I just started playing again back in March after giving it up for 30 years. I am enjoying it more than ever. The equipment is so much better now. I have a Carter D10 instead of a Fender 400 that I use to play. I feel like I am playing better than I did years ago, just not as quick. I play at home so I don't have to lug it around. ------------------
