I would like to take apart a Fender Vibrosonic amp and place the electronics in a separate head to save weight. I have a couple of Webb ext cabinets that I can use with this tube head.Does anybody know anyone who builds these cabinets. I know that several people here on the forum have mentioned breaking up amps to save weight. Thanks Ray DeVoe |

Hello Ray; I have had a couple of cabs built for amp heads.1 of them was really shabby made for the $$$ i had to pay( IMHO ) & i had a 2nd cab built that was better quality BUT from what i see on the web this guy does as fine of a job as anyone i have heard of.IF i was to have another cab built ( & i just might) this would be the guy i would have do my next one..You can scroll down to the bottom of his page & email him from there.Request pictures & i am sure he will email you plenty. The word on the 'net is this guy does very good work & is honest.. I am sure you will probably see many replies to your thread but at least give this guy a shot. Here is the link: http://www.webervst.com/crusty.htm and if you don't happen to like him or his work-here are several more listed at the top of this page: http://www.webervst.com/enclosures/index.html?

I use a cabinet built by Duane Marrs. Extremely lightweight, has the sloped back front, closed back, and ported. I use it with my Dual Showman and usually sit it on top of the Showman. BW-1501 in it. Sounds great and not a back breaker.....I haven't seen or heard Ricky's rig in person, but no doubt it sounds killer. Sure looks great from the pics. Danny

Ray, if you're interested, email me so that I can send you some pics. We have a new venture called "Tonemark". We're building hardwood cabinets and retrofitting amp heads and combos. The website should be up and running by Monday. You can try www.tonemarkspeakers.com. We are also a Weber speaker dealer. You'll have a link to the Weber site from our site. We don't use tolex; everything is handcrafted from mahogany and maple with a polyurethane finish. Email me if you want some pics. |

I had the opportunity to take my Dual Showman Reverb and new Rick Johnson 2x12 cab out to play last week. It sounds absolutely brilliant. Knocked the band mates dead when I told them that it wasn't a Fender original--looks killer. Whether you choose 2x12 or 1x15, Rick's work won't disappoint and his prices are real reasonable. FWIW, I also have a Deluxe Reverb that is a rescued chassis in a cab built by Crusty and it's a great job too. ---Just reread your post...duh, you arent looking for speaker cabs. But I remember a while ago when I was looking for the Dual Showman that I was in touch with Rick about buying a Twin and having him make me a head cab for the chassis.
