Jerry Byrd's family has been called to Jerry's beside. Mary and I will arrive in Honolulu, as well as several other of Jerry's devoted fans, and his two daughters and brother this Sunday. Fans are coming in as far away as Japan. I will still keep you informed on Jerry and will let know immediately of any change in his condition. Scotty

I can't think of anyone that could better represent those of us in the Steel Community that can't make it, better than Scotty.

Our prayers go out to Jerry and his family.

As of last night Jerry was aware of his surroundings and could look at visitors in their conversations and smile to acknowledge same.

Jerry's wife Kaleo read a print-out of the JB Fan Club forum messages mailed by Skip Montee. Kaleo said it brought a big smile from Jerry, ...and she asked me to send their Thank You's.

Please post here what Jerry and/or his Music has meant to you in the event we can get same to Jerry each day and otherwise contribute to the celebration of Jerry's life and contributions to so much joy.

Aloha,
Denny T~

If I actually make it to the Pearly Gates, I better hear Jerry's steel guitar welcoming me, or it just ain't gonna be worth the trip.

AS I said before, Standing on stage working with Jerry and hearing those sounds that came out of his amp is something I
will never forget. But I also got to know the man Jerry Byrd and what a wonderful person he was to me. Our friendship will go with me always. God bless Scotty and Jerry and Jerry's family as these are tough times indeed. Bobby

Very few have such a rich and wonderful legacy as Jerry Byrd. The abundant wealth of his beautiful music and his great teaching will live forever. Steel Guitar would not be what it is today if it weren't for Jerry.

It is so sad to contemplate his passing.

When I was first getting interested in steel, my uncle loaned me his Oahu Diana lapsteel and told me two words; "Jerry Byrd". There's no other, never will be.

Aloha Jerry --

I can only say again that you have done so much to enrich the musical lives of so many aspiring steel guitarists that goes beyond any explanation. I equate my first meeting you in Joliet '88 to the meeting and listening to David Keli'i in 1945 in the Moana Court Yard with the "Hawaii Calls" program -- the experience and thrill were the same. I have many of your LP's & CD's which I will always cherish. Aloha nui loa and may God bless you.

Jerry,

The satin magic that you conveyed directly from your heart to strings on steel will be imitated but never surpassed. I wish you well, you will never be forgotten.
