I just received a phone call from Curtis at Goodrich Sound Company reporting the sad news that Phil Goodrich has passed away after a long illness. He was 91 years old. Phil was one of the great innovators of electronic devices for the steel guitar and was a pioneer in developing impedance matching and sound enhancements, which included evrything from volume pedals to match boxes and more. Phil was one of the nicest gentleman and will be missed. He is survived by his wife Gerry son Ollie and other family members. Ollie and Curt will continue operation of the Goodrich Sound Co.On behalf of my wife Cathy and myself and all the members of the Pedal Steel Guitar Association, we extend our deepest sympathy to the Goodrich family on their great loss. Note: The Goodrich folks do not use a computer so condolence cards should be mailed to them at:8733 Silver Creek Rd., Whitehall, MI 49461. |

Sad News! I have been using & retailing their fine products for years. When they lived in Florida, Betty & I would drop in to visit while on vacation, where they usually gave us some fresh fruit from their trees in their yard. One very fond memory was the time Phil showed me the proto-type for the Match-Bro that he & Buddy Emmons were working on. Phil will be missed greatly in the steel guitar community. Out thoughts & prayers go out to the family. Al Brisco Steel Guitars of Canada |

Such a wonderful guy, the whole family are such nice folks, my prayers go out as i type. The 23rd Psalm The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
