Hi, I have a brandnew 10 string lapsteel that I would like to use for the more rock-orientated stuff. What would you consider to be the best tuning on that for powerchord related music? Thanks, Johan (please don't shoot me, I already play pedal-steel )

G E D B G E D B G E This Em7 gives you the low Em and G power chords, and it has enough close intervals to give you a distinct edge over the 6 string players when taking a solo.------------------

I'm glad you responded, b0b; I was trying to figure out a ten string power chord tuning that made sense.------------------ Brad's Page of Steel A web site devoted to acoustic & electric lap steel guitars |

Calvin Cooke's tunings- E7th & Marcus' Hardy's version E E D D B B G# G# E E E B B E E E Marcus says that he uses 2 different string gauges on the low E's, a 52 & 58. This gives a different action for either framming (strum style) or picking out the last string for single bass notes. Thanks to Calvin and Marcus for shareing these. |
