Carson Wells built that steel for Tom. So it's a CW 10-string non-pedal steel and it has a few levers that pull/lock certain strings in different positions to change the fixed tuning.
That steel is made out of "Texas Mesquite" wood.

Do you know what the tuning is of Tom Morrell's 10 string N/P steel?

Mesquite wood huh, thats interesting, I never wood have guessed.
I would have guessed the dark wood was Honduras mahogany, but I have never seen it up close. By the way Ricky, thanks for the lead on the Pro 1 from the guy in Austin ,it's a dandy, mint just like you said.

Oh you got the Pro 1 did ya....?? Way cool..and your quite welcome.
Come to think about it....I do believe the neck or finger board is Mahogany...but the rest is Mesquite.
Tommy did tell me that Hondurous Mahogany had the best sound memory of all woods; and that's why we are building the new D-10 SS HAWAIIAN out of Hondurous Mahogany.....and he also told me he was gunna replace the stainless steel bridge and nut on that particular steel, with Titainium.....and yep you guessed it...the SS HAWAIIAN will have Titainium bridges and nuts; thanks to Chas Smith for the Titainium Stock BTW.
I believe Morrell is having another one built by Carson....but I haven't talked to him in a while...wondering how that's coming along...Tommy sure had some great ideas for this new steel....and when that man speaks...."I listen" to every word.
Oh and Earnest is dead on about Tommy's tuning....not that I need to confirm anything Dou....I mean Ernest says and come to think about it....I listen to everything Earnest says too......cause that man knows...."his stuff".

Hey Ricky, To the best of my memory Tom's CW guitars, he has 2, are: Mesquite Body, flame Maple neck, Ebony fretboard. The FB is fretted with guitar type fret wire. They lack endplates as we know them but have a frame at the end for the legs and controls. They have aluminum headstocks. 1 (or both) has levers that change his tuning but I don't think he uses them much.
There's 2 new additions to the "How the West Was Swung" series. Get 'em while they're hot!
Wait they're always hot?

Well, this means that there will be no one to hand out towels in the men's room if Jody doesn't show. There'll be a lot of guys with wet hands walking around the Harvey Hotel.

Hey Jody, that one towel you were missing at the PSGA show? I think I saw Joe Wright pack it with his Sierra...I'll try to get it back for you in Dallas...
