"How the heck is it played???"

The question of how to play a seven-neck steel is maybe not as difficult as it might at first seem. Certainly for playing necks five through seven, one has room to sit or kneel comfortably on necks one through four.
This looks like the ultimate example of someone's home shop project run amok.
Some collectible value for its mere oddity, perhaps, but I don't have a home big enough to house something like this.

I would think that most steelers who are at least 7 feet tall could comfortably play the outer neck ...

There is really some wierd stuff out there. When we made the movie with Charles Starrett and Smiley Burnette in 1949, the studio people (Columbia) said my Fender was too modern looking for the old West, so they furnished me with an instrument for the filming. (Of course, I had used the Fender in the studio to make the sound track.) The thing they gave me resimbleed the old steel Ricks, but it had 32 strings all on one neck. It looked a lot more futuristic than my Fender. They gave Chuck Wiggins, our guitar plater, a SQUARE NECK guitar. It took his left hand weeks to return to normal after the filming was over.

I think the forklift is being auctioned seperately. Wait until you have to restring it, unless I'm mistaken, it's an 11, 11, 9, 8,9, 9, 11. That would be about 68 strings, which would exert about a ton of tension across the guitar body. So it would be a good idea to have your insurance paid up.....

I would add another three necks, only padded, so you can also sleep on it!

AHA ! .......Now I know how to decorate the new stairs being built at my shop (strings painted on the steps of course ) !

But regarding the geetar, ...it shouldn't weigh much more than a Hammond B3 unless it really is cast steel as the auction says rather than the aluminum it looks like; So installing a set of B3 folding end-handles would allow roadies to move it about (or the drummer and his Samoan chick!). And shucks, string up 3 necks and leave the other 4 blank would allow shelves for effects, tuner, drinks, ashtray, kitty, microphone stand mount, music stand mount, light tree mount, and even a CB radio out there on the distant neck! And darn, what a way to keep 36 spare tuners and 4 spare pickups handy.

Hey b0b, maybe you aughta buy this thing and use it for an effects pedal display! Looks like it aughta hold about 70 pieces with the help of some velcro tape!

Now, with all that ribbing, ....I'll be darn if I ain't finding myself wanting to buy that thing; One of those items that just looks like it would surely serve some good purpose some day. I always wanted to retire in an old-car junkyard; But more recently it seems like a geetar junkyard would be just as good and not require as much real estate!

Aloha,
DT~

I thought every "no peddler" owned one of these. I wouldn't take five grand for mine.

Seriously, it's a form for pouring concrete steps. What looks like strings, is actually rebar to strengthen the concrete.

It is a "Water-organ", it displays fountains that move in time with the music. Just connect the nozzles to the holes, The water will cascade down the steps. You could also use it for smoke effects with a laser lights underneath.
