Ok lets call the whole thing off..who sang that Joey?? was it Francis Albert?? anyhow,,,

I heard back from the seller of this guitar and I explained the situation to him. He replied and was very polite. He was ill advised unknowingly by a few people in music stores in upstate NY and I do know who they are. The seller is not intending to scam anyone,he is only telling what he was told by dealers of Fender and if they told him which they did,he took their word for it.

If you or anyone has no interest in buying this guitar I think it would be best if we let him be.

I can assure you he meant not to deceive anyone,he was told what he beleived to be facts.

If I wanted another Fender quad I would buy this guitar in a heartbeat, surgery or not its a great guitar.

Lets live and let live OK ??

Thank You guys..

Howard
You always bring a smile to my face and my stomach hurts from laughing..I understand the humor you posess and no one appreciates it more than I. In this case I do believe this seller did what he thought was the right description..maybe I ought to go back in the field and have a seminar with the Fender dealers of today who dont know a pedal guitar from a Tuba. The dealers the seller spoke to told him he had a one of a kind that may have been a proto type. He the seller was not aware and now he has the facts

Nevertheles Howard always makes me laugh and knowing Howard as I do know that he has a great sense of humor and a big heart and would not hurt anyone's feelings intentionally..but that is a funny getup there Howard...where did you get that cap.

You look like Frank Fontaine doing a Crazy
Guggenheim schtick..

The guys on the level and if you dont watch it I'll buy the guitar and prove it

Well ok then boys, our work here is done. It's Saturday night and time to step out.

Looks like we've saved the world once again from a bit of misinformation. It's not easy being us...

Hey everyone. . . I know it's been a while since anyone posted on this thread, however, I kept a record of it for this "back from the dead" update.

First of all, I would like to send out a sincere thanks for everyone who harassed the seller of this guitar and generally posted a bunch of ignorant nonsense about it's condition. I'd like to thank especially by name Bobby Seymour, Chris Scruggs, Bob Knight, George Keoki Lake, Gary Morrison, & Bill Hatcher for their endless badgering of the seller, (a clear violation of eBay rules, by the way) their knee jerk judgments of a guitar they never have seen in person, and their keen expert descriptions of the quad such as "butcher job," "Frankenstein," and, "a mess." By the time you folks were done with the seller, he was desperate to sell it, and I got a great deal . . . such a great deal that I probably could quadruple my money (no pun intended) if I sold just the parts of only 2 of the necks. Like I said before, a sincere thanks!

I would also like to give credit where credit is due. Jussi Huhtakangas and Big John hit it right on the head. When they said it was the best modification job they had ever seen, they were dead right. It was a professional job. On advise that Bud Carter gave me, I decided to pull out the mechanisms instead of trying to improve on them. Our upright bass player, Dirty Steve, did a great job rewiring to get it into operating condition and I have plans to eventually fill in the body.

The bottom line is that this guitar would stack up against any of it's 1950's sister guitars in tone, playability, and performance. I guess those folks who couldn't help but flex their knowledge of collectability, and were quite snobish in doing so, wouldn't think this guitar would look too good sitting in their living room "collecting" dust. Didn't you know that guitars are meant for playing? I suppose that folks that actually play for a living can't afford to be collectors. Here's a couple of pictures of the same guitar at a recent performance at the historic Granada Theater. It's funny that I didn't have a single person comment about the guitar in concern to it's butcher job, but rather the comments were mostly in regard to how bad ass it sounded. Thanks again everyone!

Excuse me Mr. three name.

A simple post to update us on how you got the guitar at a good price and that you are putting it to good use would have fared much better than calling some good folks snobs who were trying to keep somebody from being ripped off buying this guitar that was presented as being something it was not.

Pretty petty snipe.

You got a nice hacked up stringmaster. Glad you like it. Nobody got ripped off thanks to the "snobs" here.
