I just got a brand spankin' new Fluger Hollowneck dobro today. I can't hardly put in words my excitement. This one was built with brazillian rosewood back and sides with a spruce top, herringbone trim, and ebony fretboard. The craftsmanship and quality of the guitar is 2nd to none. The sound is even better!!!!! I received it today at 4pm and took off for Renfro Valley for the test drive. It exceeded my expectations not just in looks but tone also. The guitar sustains forever and each string is superbly balanced with great string separation. Got alot of nice comments on the tone of the guitar from my fellow bandmembers. If you have never tried a Fluger Resonator, you owe it to yourself to check one out. These guitars are handbuilt, one at a time, the way you want it. You don't just play one of these guitars, you "experience" them. If any of you are ever in Renfro Valley, Kentucky, you will see mine there and are more than welcome to check it out. I want to personally thank my friend, Kevin Hatton, for turning me onto these great instruments. Once I played Kevin's Fluger, I knew that was what I wanted. I would also like to give a big thanks to Marvin Pfleuger who built this fine instrument for me. I am one happy camper and this guitar is definetly a keeper!!!! Greg |

Way to go Greg. I have heard great things about the Flugers and you just confirmed it.
I know Bobbe Seymour and Duane Marrs are selling the instruments. Those two only deal
in quality.Next time in Nashvegas I'm checking them out. |

Congrats and welcome to the "Hollow Neck Club"..  Are you able to post any photos? If not, email them to me (if you have them) and I'll post it here.What tuning are you using? I got to see Autry Andress's Flueger in Dallas and it is a fine and unique guitar. ZB's and now a Flueger. Not too shabby there Greg. Congrats on your new guitar Greg! Really like the look of those guitars. Did you get the 6 or 8 string? I have never heard one, would sure like to sometime. Wonder how it compares to a Clinesmith or Scheerhorn as far as the "flavor" of the sound, if you know what I mean.
Has anyone heard Marvin's "Acoustic Resophonic" model? I wonder if it sounds anything like a Weiss? Lots of questions... |

Enjoy your new Hollowneck Greg. This is why people like Paul Franklin, Dan Dugmore, and B. James Lowery are using them. They are incredible sounding resos. Marvin Pfleuger has really hit on a revolutionary design. Everyone that hears one is taken aback by the volume and tone.

Fluger Reso/Hollow Neck What a Tone.
Glad your part of the Fluger Team. I still can't believe the quality of work he puts in these reso for the price. I ordered one from B. Seymore & he assured me I would love it. I think the secret is getting out.
Thanks Mr. Fluger for doing your home work
on this new design. And Greg I'm glad you got a winner,as it will get some attention.

Ron and Howard, I have the 6 string model and use an open "G' dobro tuning. It DOES have a great sound as well as looks. I have played one of Marvin's acoustic models, with spruce top and round sound hole. It has a real sweet tone to it. Almost like a vintage Ricenbacker Bakelite, fat,round, and warm. Plus Marvin says that this acoustic model will handle just about any tuning you want on it, unlike the original Weissenborns. These acoustic models have a standard ebony guitar bridge with a bone saddle and braced top. I think there is a pic of one of these on his website.Greg |
