I just got a cool Harmony Guldan today. Had to unstick one of the pots. The PU has 2 rails. It appears that each is controlled by a knob. Is this one way they varied tone way back? I will post a pic soon for help with dating it. Good thing my wife was at work today when BOTH guitars were delivered. I also bought an Epiphone Electar but I think I will sell that. Two tuning shafts are bent on the Harmony. I thought about trying to gently straighten them. Is there a chance of snapping it? If so, I will leave well enough alone. Thanks for all your help. Ron |

After further checking, I'm wondering if one knob should be tone and something is not right in the electronics. Both knobs reduce the sound. Could it be a bad pot or condensor? |

Ron, my Guya D8 has two knobs along with three switches that allows me to turn on either one or two PU rails. The knobs do control the sound variables on my steel quite extensively. One of the knobs gives my steel a deeper and more mellow note while the other strengthens and weakens the higher and lower strings. That is to say, turned up to #10, the one knob gives the higher strings the same volume and intensity, if not greater, as the lower strings. Hope this is on the same track as your question. ------------------ (I am not right all of the time but I sure like to think I am!)
