I recieved a copy of Ricks cd today and If I were able to do justice to compliment him I would, but his music is unbelievable. He does it all. Singing,,playing,,the whole nine (9) yards and then some. Country and yet up to date and original..move over Robert RandolphRick's back in town..I wished I could say more but there is too much to say about Rick's talent. I'm ashamed to have sent my hcoa cd to him..he puts me to shame. Rick is RED HOT. Great Job Rick. |

I can't believe that I'm reading this. That's some pretty high praise. Thank you Jody with all my heart. I don't buy the part about putting you to shame though - not in this lifetime buddy. You just lifted my spirits about 8 miles high . .Loni, if you'd like a copy of my CD just send me an email rick@rickalexander.com with your address. I'd be happy to send you a copy.

Mark my words, this kid is going places..what place? I dont know I'll find out. Only kidding folks. This kid has what it takes,he's outstanding as a performer and his material is different. You cant lose by getting a hold of his cd. If I were younger and able,I would get this kid on the Letterman show,he would WOW em Paul Schaffer would as he says "I dig this cat man" Rick Alexander is going to make it if he plays his cards right and gets a good promoter..whats that steel players name that has done some of those major network shows? well,,he's got some serious competition here RR.sound familiar?? Good luck buddy..my predictions sometimes do come true. [This message was edited by Jody Carver on 12 January 2005 at 04:27 PM.] |

Well Rick, I downloaded the song last night and my wife and I listened to it four times. She LOVED IT! AND SO DID I. Patti has a pretty good ear for talent and always seems to know when someone is going to get a hit song. She said if Rick could get that played on the radio it would be a hit!My check is on the way. You should have it by Wednesday or Thursday. (no mail today) I can't wait to hear the rest of this CD> YOU DA' MAN!!!!! |

You can easily tell music runs in Rick Alexander's veins. "He does it all. Singing,,playing,,the whole nine (9) yards and then some." Right on point, Jody! I know Rick will continue to stretch and dig deep...Your right there, Man, you are right there!! And from what I just heard, all the pats on the back above, are well deserved.... The passion's there, Rick, keep driving and don't look back... Hot Hot Hot? You aint heard nuttin yet. This kid can play and better yet he's a performer with class....next stop "TODAY SHOW" and dont think with the right promoter its not possible...I was supposed to debut my unfinished book being interviewed by Matt Lauer and Katy Couric...but the promoter open his mouth too soon. Then there's always the tonight show with Kevin Eubanks who I know. |

Just received Rick's new CD and it is great!!!! Not only is he a great musician and singer, he wrote all of these songs also. A lot of the songs remind me of the "fifty's" style which I love. Keep up the good work Rick and hope you make it big.------------------ Don Burrows Builder of BSG Steel Guitars

Jim, The clips only serve to wet one's musical appetite. You can't judge the CD from this limited selection. Rick is a multi-talented musician who plays different stringed instruments as well as being a singer/composer. I would never begrudge anyone for their opinion. However, I would have to agree with Jody about the CD. Keep on stummin', Ron |

I got home last night to a nice surprise. Rick's CD was on the desk- opened! My wife had been listening to it all day. It is all she talked about. I didn't get a chance last night to hear much of it so I took it to work. After listening to the CD all day I must say it is well worth the money. Rick is an excellent all- around player. I know several people (i'm one) who play several insturments and none very well. This guy is versitle in each one. Did I like every song? no Have I ever bought a CD that I did? no Some may say that they don't hear much steel guitar in it but if Rick wanted more he certainly has the chops. Music is a blend of different insturments. I personally get tired of too much of anything. There is much more to come through the fingers of this guy. As a songwriter I think he is very talented. I would be honored to set with him anyday and learn just what he had forgotten about music. ------------------ JCFSC member since 2005 D-8 Stringmaster Fender Dual Pro

Jim Phelps writes...................................... Jim Phelps Member From: Mexico posted 24 January 2005 05:54 PM profile edit -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I haven't heard the CD but of all the clips on Rick's website, all the solos sound exactly like a regular 6-string guitar to me. Guess either I'm getting to where I can't tell the difference or Rick is the best I've ever heard at making a lapsteel sound just like a Gibson ES-335. Jim...Rick is using all his talent not in particular a steel guitar to be specific..he has a multitude of talent with his straight guitar ability which is great and his singing and choice of original material is what makes Ricks cd different and enjoyable. I dont think hearing anything but steel guitar is of importance here,,we are listening to a cd that is different and has all the ear marks of being something different than the run of the mill cd's out there today. Rick exhibits a multitude of talent and ability to put a song over.
I dont know what your taste is,,,but to my ears this is one of the best cd's to come along in a long time..Harry Connick,,John Pizzerelli are a few others I can think of. Rick is in that group of enetertainers. If your looking for straight steel there are hundreds out there to choose from and they are all fine,,but Rick Alexander is different and I myself enjoy and admire his talent. If you have any doubt dont buy the cd. But there are many that will agree with me, that this kid has it and with the proper exposure, you will hear from Rick Alexander not only on this Forum but he is well on his way to prove that country or western or blues or soft rock can be combined and thats what this is all about. Thanks and besides that he plays a FENDER PS Rick can front a group any day anywhere and get attention from any audience be it pop, country, rock, metal, how many have this talent.. RR is a popular figure these days and I myself enjoy his talent, I woulnd't classify him as a steel guitarist as we are accustomed to..nevertheless RR is making inroads with his sound and talent...ditto is Rick Alexander. This Forum can use versatility and new blood..we are getting old and crochety dont you agree. There is room for everyone,,especially one with the talent we have in Rick..Thanks and Goodnight Mrs.Calabash wherever you are. Jody, you are one of the nicest people on the planet. I wish I was. I deleted my posts because although I might not always agree 100% on everything with you, I don't want to be the one causing hassles. I got my copy last week and had forgot about this thread but the album was a surprise to me. I expected it to be Hawaiian after seeing a picture of Rick in the Kahuna shirt but that's not the case. I'd call it more rock and pop than anything. Great job there Rick! |
