"Your Name Here" is the name of my new tune I just finished recording last night.Here is the page with audio, visual and lyrics. And Here is the MP3 itself. This is the second song I've recorded with the new Remington Steelmaster T8. I truly love this instrument. Herb has a used T8 Steelmaster for sale right now - his contact info is on this thread.

Real nice Rick! I like your music. The hits keep a comin'....The Steelmaster sounds great as does the other instruments. I like those trills. It's wonderful, the variety of music that steel can take a prominent part in and I certainly enjoy listening to everyone who posts their sound clips and tunes. |

Thanks Howard!  Thanks Drew!
("energizer bunny" - I like the sound of that . .) and thanks to Herb Remington for the trills - those hammer ons and pull offs are pure "Remington Ride" . . also for the Steelmaster and for the A6 tuning I used in this song.
We certainly owe him a great debt. Herb is a perfect example of how steel can take a prominent part in different kinds of music. He's the king of Western Swing, a master of Hawaiian, a world class Jazz and Swing player - he can play anything on Steel and make it sound so right! I think we just need to expand on his example, and show how Steel Guitar has a place in all types of music. Gary Brandin is another great example - a wonderful versatile Steel Player, and he and his son Geof practically invented a genre of music - "Surf Noir", on the Vanduras ground breaking "In The Dark" CD. I don't really give a whole lot of thought to what "type" of music my songs are - every song I write and record is a kind of journey, and the next one will be nothing like the last . .  |

Rick,Song by each new song, your lyrics, story "hook's" & melodies get richer (hope you do too). It's like watching a building go up, brick by brick. Really enjoyable to watch and hear. TX,

Rick, you sound great! What's the scale length on that Remington?

Great song Rick, but it really adds to the effect being able to see the lyrics along with you singing it. Maybe you should get a telepromter or a Karioke machine screen when you perform this? Or maybe a sign language interpreter. |

Thanks for all the nice comments guys! It really means a lot to me - very inspiring, in view of the fact that you all are some of the most talented people I know. Keoki, you got lotsa talent buddy - everybody says so! Ron - thanks for that, what a nice thing to say. I love the construction analogy! That's very much how I feel about it . . Gary, I'm strictly a short scale kind of guy - 22 1/2". I know the longer scale is supposed to be better for tone, sustain, and harmonics, but this short scale Steelmaster aces all three!
I'm glad you like Justine, she's a real mean woman! I made her up, but there are a lot of Justines in the world . . Neil, you were the best dang Pedal Steel Player I ever worked with. You always did such a great job when you played clubs and shows with my band back in the 80s & 90s. Thank you for the encouragement and good wishes. Bill, that's such a cool idea. Some of my biggest fans are deaf now (I used to play real loud), so a sign language interpreter would be a great way to give something back.
