I just purchased a real cool looking lap steel on ebay. I have only seen one like it before but it wasn't for sale. The serial number on it is X63281 and it is a National
Rocket One Ten Model. I was wondering if anyone out there might know the date of Mfg. and if any parts are still around as it has a crack in the pickup cover. Other than that this little guitar is a classic.
Thanks guys.

Hey John I don't have any info on your guitar but I'd sure like to see a picture of it.

That's a very cool National. They sound great and look just as good. The serial number dates it to 1956. Good luck finding a replacement pickup cover. No one makes them as far as I know.

John, I too have Rocket 110 ser.#x78701.The VG price guide says they were made from '55 to '58. They say $300-$400 for exlnt. condition.Somewhere I have the dating info but I can't locate it.Mine has 2 small nicks, but looks good and plays good.I also have a National Chicagaon made in '48 '61.This guitar is perfecto, like brand new.Got the screw-on connecter. Both have orig. cases.Very warm mellow tone.I love 'em.don't want to sell, but would trade for an 8 string console.

I don’t know where you can purchase replacement pickup covers for Nationals. I had a broken one on my T8 Console. I repaired it using quick set epoxy. You can then sand off the excess epoxy and paint it with Krylon Fusion paint that matches the original color. If you are careful, it will look almost like it did originally. Mine is black, so the color wasn’t hard to match. By the way, how many strings does your National have?
