I'm pretty much out of touch with the pedal-steel world, with the exception of the "sacred steel" players.

Wow! I am a newbe to steel guitar and built my own six-string slab.And I have it tuned to the DaDF#aD. is it possible to play that song on a lap steel? Music was great!!!!!!!!

I play that also in D A D F# A D, but sometimes play it with the low A tuned to G so that I can get the bass of the G chord when the melody goes up to B on the first string. That's where the Hipshot Trilogy tailpiece comes in handy.
