Speaking of new tunes, you all may want to check-out this little ditty from our buddy Rick Alexander: http://rickalexander.com/BigSteel/SettlingDown.html or http://rickalexander.com/BigSteel/SettlingDown_RA.mp3 The dancing part is on the first link. If you just want the song click on the second link. There are some fancy three string slants in there that sound fun. Great Job Rick! ------------------ JCFSGC,RMSGC,HSGA member Do it with "Glass" Boyett's Glass Bars |

Thanks go out to Rick, that was outstanding! The Steelmaster sounds sounds so lush and rich. Rick, which tuning were you playing on that? This is sort of a country rock instrumental version of when Stevie Wonder made those classic albums in the 70's and played all the instruments himself. Oh yeah-nice hat too. ------------------ Mark

Garman - thanks for posting this buddy.Bill - thanks for the kind words, it means a lot coming from a player of your caliber. Mark - thank you my friend. Yeah I love the Steelmaster, it really does what I need it to do. Herb Remington has helped me so much in many ways. That's the high C6 tuning - ACEGACEG (lo2hi) My hat thanks you too! |

Thanks Garman! No scratches here - knock on wood . .Hi David - thanks! Actually, I didn't know what I was doing genre-wise. But yeah, I guess it does. Some people (rockers & djs) think everything I do sounds Country, and other folks (ma & pa kettle) think I ain't even Country at all . . |

Jody,Good to see your post on here and as usual, your kind words. Yes, Rick's sound is nice and I have been using some of his material on my "Swingin' West" show. Infact, I will be playing his version of "Sweet Temptation" on a Composer's Corner of Merle Travis compositions on tomorrow's show. ------------------ Mike

Howard - that was my real goal, to make the banjo acceptable. I think the way to accomplish that is to keep it low in the mix and not play it constantly throughout the song. Oh yeah, and only use it in one song. If you want to use it in another song you have to drop the first song from your repertoire . . |
