This posting is in reply to your reply to my reply in this SGF posting ... (Is it Who or What on second base?). I moved our discussion to this new one so as to not hijack Greg's posting there.

My posting was indeed carelessly quick, but not intended to be "veiled" from Those that are aware of the subject HSGA history. Those who recognize the inference would understand, ....and no direct criticism to a broader audience would be done, ....until now. But your reply is good because I and others have now been introduced to a rather NEW departure from past-norm at the HSGA website, ....surely due in large part to your efforts that have been commended many times.

Yes, you are correct; I had not visited the HSGA website recently-prior to that / my posting to learn the NEW improvements in regards to broader recognition / promotion of Steel Artists outside the HSGA. After visiting the HSGA website litterally hundreds of times in the past, ...my posting's inference was indeed my sentiment that was reasonable to the HSGA's past practices; .....I was simply and carelessly not motivated to double-check after those many years of visits. But if we're gonna split hairs of "fairness", ....we might revisit the HSGA Q/A forum & archive that was deleted awhile back (along with KUDOS for the newer direction). Seems to me that was discussed on the SGF ...among a number of other issues... and the answers rather indicative of why I might be rash and careless in not checking the recent currency of the HSGA website. Not an excuse for being careless; Just a reasonable reply regarding how / why that might have occured; And seems meaningful to keeping a closer eye on the improvements in the HSGA, that you are apparantly a commendable driving force behind.

Any number of single initial postings ...and even discussions to a lesser degree... aren't going to be fully fair to the fullest abstract. For instance, your reply that motivated this new posting didn't mention the subject HSGA past practices nor the volumes of discussion about same. But hopefully the act of discussion will reasonably round things out and usually serve a good purpose. And I venture to say that there are FAR more postings CONGRATULATORY of your and the HSGA's accomplishments than criticism. I think it also contributing that most humans take congratulations a bit better than negative criticism even in good faith. This is not the first rash / careless posting I and Others have made; Nor will it likely be the last unless an "offender" bails out.

With all that said, I will go back and take a bit more time and care to edit my original posting and post the edited version here separately from the original ...since I sense leaving the original intact for reference might serve this discussion better.

Granted ... I was in South Florida for the majority of my 19 yr membership in HSGA ... and not "privy" to the "goings on" in the state of Hawaii in respect to HSGA ...

And since so many references have been made about the "past" ...

I personally, would like specific examples of these "practices" ...

It's about time.

Further, that it would be helpful for him to give some of his thoughts, recommendations, ideas for bettering the organization. He has thought that his ideas were possible too far-fetched to be acceptable. To which I responded give it another chance. I told him that I would listen.

The reason that this is good advice is because the board of HSGA will always have new board members coming on board and I feel they will be willing to listen.

Bill Crellar's remarks are important to note: HSGA is a totally voluntary organization with no paid staff. That means people will work at normal jobs and volunteer their time to HSGA additionally.

To the volunteers of HSGA, we owe them a special debt and some appreciation for what they do for all of us.

Also, remember there will always be some problems with human beings involved. If God were running the organization, it would be perfect. But then none of us would qualify for the organization. Just thot I would throw some Theology into the discussion.
