Who is this guy? I have no idea.He has a very nice Fender Stringmaster; but he needs a better tone bar. I can't even see the bar; it is so small __ looks like he's using a very large nail. It seems he would see that the legs will extend to a standing position. Maybe he has a hunch-back problem. |

What a bizzare clip! Early 60's British surf meets Liverpool. I love it! Nice stringmaster, and the player is getting some pretty good sounds from it. I have no idea who the steel player is, and the clip does not name the band so there's no way to research the band. The guitarist on the left gyrates around like one of those dolls on a spring, which is pretty annoying to watch. |

I remember that record on the radio when I was a kid but can't remember the title or artists.I think it is a Joe Meek production, so the steel player may well have been Pete Wilshire. I know he did sessions for Meek at that time, and that he owned a Stringmaster. I knew him in the 80's as a PSG player with a large beard, so can't be definate about that young clean shaven chap! I wish I knew the source of that clip. |

Yes, a bit bizarre!Chances are they were doing what's known as "playback." That is they are not really playing, but pantomiming to recorded music as the video people shot a few takes using different camera angles. I may be wrong in this particular case, but a whole lot of that goes on with music videos.[This message was edited by Bob Stone on 08 June 2006 at 02:12 PM.] |
