Hi all,

I've written a new lap slide song called "Red Mud" that I recorded in the weekend (guitar) and this evening (vocals). Here it is:

Fred
Kinbom - "Red Mud"

I played it on my 1930s Oahu roundneck, tuned B-F#-B-Eb-Bb-B once again - I really like this major seventh tuning. Since I liked the ambience of my most recent recording (outdoors in Lisbon), I opted for recording on the balcony this time. Well, I like the sound of the guitar out there. Here is my pro-set up:

Shure SM-58 covered with a sock, and the hammock wrapped over the mic stand for some extra wind protection. This fella kept me company:

That's our resident seagull - "Karl Jul". He can also be heard on the recording.

Anyway, I hope you will like the tune! Thanks Basil for hosting it! And thanks Loni for your comment where Basil posted the song earlier tonight! It will also be added to my MySpace page soon, but it's not there yet.

Thanks for listening!

Cheers,

Fred.

Fred, I think that this post and your super playing deserves a 'Bump' up the listings so that more can appreciate your style..
So 'BUMP' up to the top, or TTT.

Donīt know why, but it makes me think of "Magna Carta".

I enjoyed it, and was pleased to see the seagull listed in the credits, name and all. You're on a roll with these outdoor recordings, Fred. I was straining to hear the words, though...

Thanks Steve! The words can be found on my myspace page - just click on "lyrics" for "Red Mud".
