Now working on two different versions of the same song for the opening page of the JBFC.Have had extreme difficulty trying to get it to come up on the web site........obviously due to my lack of skills and expertise on the 'puter. I've called in reinforcements and with some luck, the happy vacationer will have us up and running in short order........hopefully! |

Excellent Rick, two brilliant performances my a 'Master'. I notice that the chords are the definitive ones and that the first and second half of the verses end on the correct notes (3 on the word "ARMS" and 1 on the word 'MORE') With regard to the second version, I can't say I'm fond of the "Ronnie Ronald" bits, but the Steel Guitar was sublime. Sorry, wrong spelling, should be Ronnie Ronalde .He recorded a series of top-selling discs for EMI in the 1950s, and performed at New York City's Radio City Music Hall over 1000 times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Ronalde http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~rronalde/EMI_MAGIC.htm

Well, after four days of working at it, I had to let go of Jerry's version of 'Moon of Manakoora' from his olde Decca LP "Hi-Fi Steel Guitar"......... In it's place is a nice version of the same tune with Fred Lowry at the "Whistling Station"........... I sincerely hope you'll enjoy the various versions. http://www.jerrybyrdfanclub.com/ |

I must say I'm really enjoyin this thread very much.Ray, Jerry's version of "Manakoora" is Just beautiful. I've listened to many versions in the past week and there's little parts of each that I really like. |

I like the whistling. People don't whistle anymore. They don't hum to themselves when they walk down the street either. If you whistle or hum a tune in public these days people think you are demented and parents tell their children not to stare at you. What the hell has happened to us as a society? What? you're not allowed to express yourself musically unless you are drunk on a Karaoke stage? ------------------ Gerald Ross 'Northwest Ann Arbor, Michigan's King Of The Hawaiian Steel Guitar' CEO, CIO, CFO - UkeTone Records Gerald's Fingerstyle Guitar Website Board of Directors Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association [This message was edited by Gerald Ross on 09 August 2006 at 06:23 AM.]
