I was just blown away by Jerry Douglas playing Jason Dumont's Bel Air on the CMA awards. Really cool! I about came out of my seat! Congrats, Jason. You are really getting some serious exposure. You deserve it! Ain't it great, gang. |

Mike, You beat me to it !!....I was flipping out when I saw Douglas playing Jason's ax !!!...The first thing that caught me was the TONE !!...Then seeing that it was Douglas, and then realizing that it was Jasons Lap King , it put a BIG smile on my face ... Jason should really be beaming about now !!.... He knew he made a great instrument all along, now whoever saw that show knows it too !!.... .......Jim |

I sat in the green room near Jerry last night and got to see this lap king up close. Nice guitar! However, Jerry was deep into conversation with some folks and I didn't get to talk to him other than to say hello. How can I contact Jason Dumont? ***** I done a search for Lap King and found what I needed. Thanks anyway ***** ------------------ Gaylon's Homepage www.gaylonmathews.com Gretchen Wilson [This message was edited by Gaylon Mathews on 07 November 2006 at 06:16 AM.] |

Gaylon-Jerry has played that guitar on his recent tour. At the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Fest in San Francisco last month, he flat ripped it up on "She Makes Me Want To Sing," which is the first song from his latest CD. I liked on the awards show how when it came time for the solo, Alan turned around to face Jerry. Sometimes I think these TV crew people need help on directing the camera and the lights on a player during a solo. ------------------ [This message was edited by Mark Eaton on 07 November 2006 at 09:33 AM.] |

Do I get to brag that my Rodeo was in production in Jason's shop at the same time as Jerry's guitar? Seriously, Jason is building some fine guitars that everyone should consider when looking for a new classic. Stephen |

That's pretty cool, Stephen--check this out. It's been known to happen that guitars get mixed up and the wrong one gets sent to the wrong person. I'm revealing a little known professional secret here: look on the back and see if there's a switch that says "Play Great ON/OFF" If so, you have Jerry's guitar! Use it well! (He doesn't really need it much). ---PS: I'm not implying that you need it. It ticks me off that none of my axes have this.) |
