Hi Jon, I have been playing Pedalmaster guitars for quite a while. They are well built guitars. They stay in tune and the pedals and knee levers work real nice. Roy has had Pee Wee Whitewing's MSA Millenium for sale on his web site for $2,800 for a few months now.....I'm shocked no one has grabbed it yet.Joe |

Mr. Roy Thomas is one of the most knowledgeble builders in the business. he will be "up front" with you on all aspects of the guitar, The guitar I am playing is wood=bodied (African blood wood)with goughed aluminum necks and has a real nice tone with PF10 pickups. He has a variety of pickups to choose from. If you are in the market for a high quality guitar at an affordable price, contact Mr. Roy Thomas. A friend of mine in Maryland, who is a student of Mike Auldridge, bought a lefty Pedalmaster. Both my friend and Mike think that they sound great. At least my friend told me that Mike thought they were great steels. For verification of the previous statement you must contact Mr. Auldridge as to what his official opinion is.

The Pedalmaster is a very well made steel and they sound great also ...Roy Thomas stands behind his work also...
I was pretty surprised to see that the GORGEOUS Blue D-10 that was for sale on the forum didn't sell fast ....Great looking, and I'm sure a great playing steelBTW...Roy is no longer making a U-12 model ....Too Bad !!....[This message was edited by James Quackenbush on 17 September 2004 at 07:42 AM.] |

The Thomas Guitars out of Cal. are not the same guitar as the guitars Roy Thomas builds.Both are excellent guitars. In my opinion Roy builds a "World Class" guitar and I've had quite a few of them.Am considering having him build me a new one soon as I sell off a few of the guitars i have around here. ------------------

Roy Thomas is one of the best steel guitar craftsmen in the business. I purchased an S-10 Baby Blue Pedalmaster from Roy a couple of years ago. I am very pleased with the tone and quality of the instrument. Mine has a George L E-66 pickup and sounds great. I play through a Profex II and use several different settings. However the guitar sounds excellent just using delay playing straight out of the amp. As others have said, Roy stands behind his equipment and will take a lot of time discussing his design with you so that you understand why his guitar is built to his specific standards. |

Hi Jon. you won't be sorry I do not wish to make this a brand war so lets just say I've owned brand x and x and x over the years, but imho nothing has come close to the pedalmaster in any way. |

Ditto with all of the positive comments above. I have played several of Roy's guitars and they are top notch. He is also a very direct person. No "runaround!" |

I agree with the accolades for Roy. He is both a fine person and a fine builder. Just to mention it in case someone might be intersted, Roy builds many left-handed pedal steel guitars -- probably more than anyone else. I am well pleased with mine. ------------------

I was at Roy's shop last Thursday to visit and look at a couple of guitars. I played a custom d-10 of his for 6 years and then sold to a close younger friend who is starting to play. The guitars are extremely well built, play well and the two I played on Thursday sounded excellent, especially the one with the Wallace pickups. You can't go wrong with the man or his instruments. |

Thanks for all your replies! I purchased a U-12 and am very happy with it. I was able to change the copedant very easily. I think it's a great sounding and mechanically good instrument. I sold my '69 Emmons D-10 and bought this and I'm very happy. Just got a Nashville 112, and I'm happy with that, too. I'ts cool to get new stuff!Jon |
