SBC's T1 line went bad. It took then 28 hours to fix it!

FWIW, SBC is now AT&T,Inc since they acquired AT&T and then assumed the AT&T name since it is better known.

But 28 hours for a T1 outage is pretty poor service. I had about 30 T1's, where I worked, and even a dispatch wouldn't have taken that long - even a major fiber cut.

The T1 for the forum pipe must be a very low priority circuit.

I washed the dishes, vacumned the floor, even took a shower. This place would look pretty decent if the forum went down more often.

Glad you're all okay, Sysops. I began to panic too, thinking of alien kidnappings; and B0b floating around in cyberspace-- Again!

I agree with Jack. I work for a independent telephone company, and we NEVER let a T-1 stay down for more than 1 or 2 hours at the most. That's only if the problem is on our end. They must not want to pay the overtime for there special circuits technicians.

First thing I did when the Forum would not come up was to check CNN to make sure California had not slide off into the ocean.

Checked the news, nope, California still there...
Checked the network manager, no he hasn't put a filter on web browsing (yet)...
Sent Bob Carlucci an e-mail asking about it, Nope, Bob's not there yet...

Browser response this morning! I'm not dead. Yeah...

That's so funny, Ray.
When I couldn't get the forum up the first person I thought of to send an email to was Bob Carlucci....
I wonder if we were not the only ones....

It's nice to be back.

I just finished responding to all the emails asking "is it me?".

I don't mind. Hope you folks don't mind I couldn't give a personal response to everyone. After a while I just cut and pasted the info.

Thanks b0b, for keeping me advised of the situation.

I also checked CNN, there was no "SGF Is Down!" story that I saw.

First I thought it is a regular maintenance, the next day I was already worried and checked newspaper and TV for some bad news about California!

So glad to be back with you all!

Kind Regards, Walter

During maintainence I always put up a message. If you can't reach the server at all, it means that there's a system failure of some kind. Usually a power outage or an Internet connection problem.

The problem was bigger than just the Forum. The catalog was down, which means no Christmas orders for over a day, and I couldn't connect to my day job which was a major problem for Avery Dennison. I'm still dealing with the repercussions.
