How does one defend a statement when the attacker asks for the subject to be closed BEFORE a response is possible ?
In particular I point to this as an example of total misunderstanding and opportunism regarding closing the thread by the originator.

b0b, I am 100% Dutch and I am NOT offended by the topic at all.
NOR am I offended by Basils statements as he only exposed one particular Dutch malpractice. And NOT the entire Dutch popultion.

I've deliberated and come up with this solution :- http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum15/HTML/012815.html

FWIW I think the Dutch Steelies thread WAS quite informative and should have been closed NOT deleted, how can I defend myself against allegations that are no longer there to be viewed, and why should I have to ?

BTW this is the '+1' referred to in the linked post.

IN DEFENCE OR NOT?

An interesting development happened here:

The attacker (Ron Steenwijk) accused Basil of putting up people's tracks without their knowledge or permission.

Here is what Ron Steenwijk said:

quote:

"Right now you put up Henk Braaksma's cd.I know for a fact that you never asked him.He is a good friend of mine."

Basil could not reply and defend himself, because the topic was blocked and deleted.

So I emailed Henk Braaksma and guess what:

Henk knows about the fact that his tracks are on Basils site.
Henk even gave me the link. (See his email in Dutch and English below).

So Ron Steenwijk deliberately broke the forum rules.

This viscious act should not be tolerated on the forum, however, the moderaters protected Ron Steenwijk.

To substantiate my claim:
Here is the email sent to me by Henk Braaksma in Dutch.
Below it you'll a translation in English.

quote:

*************************************************
Aloha Peter,

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

quote:

*************************************************
Aloha Peter,
Thank you for your email.
Two of my CD's have been issued and I can deliver both.

"Souvenir from Hawaii" (Dedicated to Rudi Wairata), 12 track played in Rudi's style, has been mentioned on the forum. This one costs € 7,50 (± $ 10.=) and "How d'ya do?", 16 tracks in Wairata and Hoopii style, which was issued in 2004. That one costs € 12.= (± $ 17.=). This excludes shipping. If you are interested, let me know so that I can calculate the shipping costs.
You'l have to wait a couple of weeks, because I am going on leave (holiday) tomorrow.

So Ron Steenwijk deliberately broke the forum rules.

Here is the rule Ron Steenwijk broke:

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false, defamatory, libelous, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, racist or illegal.

I think Ron Steenwijk was excessively disruptive, but the moderators do not seem to think so.

If Baz doesn't care about this issue anymore, I say let it burn out? I could clearly see both sides of this thread and it's really not that big a deal, is it? Fight the good fight and move on. Not away from posting, but on to the next thread that intrests you! Baz, your one of the reasons this place can be entertaining and also educational. Gees, I just gave Baz a compliment, does that mean I'm trolling according to, what's his name?

Be carefull Jesse, "Trolling' over here has a different connotation !! But I guess that's why you said it, to see if I'd 'Rise' to the Bait !!

Did you see this Baz?

The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association has opened up a "Forum". http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/009614.html

Now Hawaiian discussions can hopefully be continued, unless Troll Steenwijk interferes again.

Hopefully Rick recognizes trollers. 

I'm closing this due to Peter's repeated personal attacks on Ron.

I respect that Ron has shown the restraint of not taking the bait, and respected our rules of no personal attacks.

If everyone would just follow his example we'd be back on track of the original goals of this Forum.
