I have added this real nice song to my list of tabs and MP3's for those interested in learning the C6th tuning. It is not recording studio quality but is clear and done slowly. Here is the link: http://members.cox.net/loveridehd/Maria%20Elena.mp3 The guitar Rhythm track is included.[This message was edited by Roy Thomson on 14 March 2005 at 03:15 PM.] |

Last Saturday someone landed on my back door step with a Gibson BR-9 and sold it to me for $275 Can. with case. It has never been played much and close to mint condition. I know they are plentiful and no collectors item but I boulght it for a C6th...C6th/A7.. and Leavitt instrument. After new strings I recorded two songs different styles: Seagull Island, an original on C6/A7 and then A Foggy Day, on the Leavitt tuning. A few years ago Ian McLatchie, Ontario, Canada sent me several Leavitt arrangements that he worked out and Foggy Day was one of them. I played it exactly as he tabbed it and was amazed at how he was able to extract the chords from this tuning. Many thanks Ian!! I will be adding these songs to my Tablature list of songs available in the Tablature Section of the Forum. Here are the links to the Gibson BR-9 and the comparitive sound styles. http://members.cox.net/loveridehd/FOGGYDAY.mp3 http://members.cox.net/loveridehd/SEAGULLISLAND.mp3 All times are Pacific (US)

Lazy Leavitt River/ Steel Guitar Jubilee Added to my Tablature List above. These two songs I used to play in my early years of learning steel guitar. I wonder why I keep going back there? If anyone knows who wrote Steel Guitar Jubilee please post his name. From the Western Swing era. It's a great little instrumental and the composer should get his credit. Lazy River is a short rendition done on the Leavitt Tuning based on music sent me a few years ago by Ian McLatchie. Thanks Ian. I add a little fingerstyle segment of my own which I think demos how this technique can be used effectively even without the presence of lower bass strings? Both of these songs are done on my newly acquired BR-9 Gibson six string. Jubilee is standard C6th. Here are the links thanks to Andy Sandoval. http://members.cox.net/loveridehd/LAZYRIVER.mp3 http://members.cox.net/loveridehd/STEELGUITARJUBILEE.mp3 |

I have just up dated my list of Tablature and MP3's available. (See my opening post above). Namely Together Again which brings some more pedal licks to the Lap Steel. Lil Iza Jane is a mini workshop to learn Thumbstyle Pickin on a six string Lap Steel tuned standard c6th. If you like this way of pickin' here is your chance to learn it with one single page of tab and a slow down MP3 file. When you hear it at fast tempo you will not beleive this. Email me for more details roythomson@eastlink.ca[This message was edited by Roy Thomson on 28 April 2005 at 06:51 AM.] |
