I've had the pleasure of hearing Lloyd Green playing his new "one of a kind" JCH guitar over at Jimmie Crawford's on several recent occasions. Lloyd is playing better than ever, and doing some bar slant/pedal technique that is just plain awesome. He is quietly advancing the instrument in new directions without adding new pedal changes. His JCH guitar is a work of art, by the way.

It has been a long time since I heard Lloyd play live. He has always been one of my favorite players. I wish he would play some of these steel shows. Actually, I think everyone wishes he would. Is Lloyd on line yet?------------------

Rumor has it that LLoyd has agreed to play at next years convention.
If so, that's reason enough to attend.

Mike P. Are you talking about the St. Louis show?. I sure hope so. Lloyd's style is so recognizable and sweet. His cuts with Ricky Skaggs are some of my favorites. He is sure an original.

There was a post on the Forum a few months ago that informed us that Lloyd had ear (hearing) damage that could progess to total hearing loss if he continued to play? Is this still the case? DD

Lloyd is suffering from a disease of the inner ear called Meniere's syndrome. The symptoms include headaches and dizziness, as well as some hearing loss. The disease is considered incurable by western medicine, but acupuncturists say they can cure it.
Lloyd believes the disease was exacerbated not by playing, but by playing through headphones on a daily basis for so many years. His lack of involvement with the steel guitar community for the last few years is not due to the disease, which he says is in remission, but due to his growing interest in Egyptian archeology.

To digress slightly, are you the Jon Graboff on Kelly Willis's version of "Truck Stop Girl"? That's a really cool (B-bender) solo (at least, I HOPE it's a bender - it sounds like one)

Interesting... years ago when I used to take lessons from Bobby Black, he was (and I presume still is) heavily into Egyptian archeology. His house was full of books etc on the subject. I guess it's the only frontier left after "solving" the mysteries of pedal steel guitar!

Lloyd, If you are reading this I want you to know I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing you in St.Louis in the year 2000! It's always a pleasure and I have fond memories of the Sho Bud days! Theresa
