On Roger's cut of "Lock, Stock, and Teardrops", Pete Drake actually "sings" a verse thru his Talking Steel.
I'm trying to figure out exactly what the words are to that verse.

It's something like:
"Someday I'll find myself another town,
with a ---- ---- ----- --- ---,
to let my sorrows drown..."

If anyone knows this verse, I'd really appreciate the words to it.

Thanks!

Lock, Stock, and Teardrops

Someday I won't come runnin'
When you call
The way you hurt me
It's a wonder I'm still here at all

Someday you'll wake up
And you'll find yourself alone
Lock, stock and teardrops
I'll be gone

I can't go on
The way you make me feel
You make me cry
And every time expect me to forgive

Someday you'll wake up
To a cold and lonely dawn
Lock, stock and teardrops
I'll be gone

Oh someday I'll wake up
And find the strength to carry on
And lock, stock and teardrops
I'll be gone
Lock, stock and teardrops
Lock, stock and teardrops
Lock, stock and teardrops
I'll be gone

Hey Bob, I've never heard Roger Millers version of that song but I have it on K.D. Langs cd called "Shadowland". She does a super job on it. Matter of fact the whole cd is great. Not typical country but she does a good job.

I have a question: Is it definately Pete Drake? I had a Cherokee Cowboys LP on which Mr. Emmons seemed to use a talking gismo -- the tune was "Burnt Fingers" -- possibly sung by Willie Nelson(?). It has been a long time since I heard it. I just thought given the long relationship Mr. Miller has with Mr E. there was at least room for a query.

That was Wade Ray on "Burnt Fingers". Emmons was doing the "talking" on that one for sure. I'm pretty sure it was Pete on Rodgers' song.

On k d Lang's version there's just a solo in that slot, but on Roger's version there's definitely a verse being sang thru the steel.

It's just before the line:
"Someday I'll wake up, find the strength
etc..."

If anyone has Roger's version, maybe you could listen to it and see what I'm talking about.
This is driving me nuts!

thanks again
