Willie Nelson wrote it, The Great Ray Price performed it, Buddy "God" Emmons played on it. I am not sure what album it is on, maybe Buddy knows. Willie has a new cut on it on his new album "Teatro." Oh, Buddy also had it on his Expedition E9 album. A really good album.------------------ The Young Steelkid [This message was edited by Eddie Lange on 12-24-99]

This is a classic and a favorite of mine...you can find it by Conway Twitty on the album "She needs someone to hold her when she crys..." John Hughey play brilliant on the intro..awesome...Bill------------------

This is a wonderful song to play because when the slow shuffle groove is just right the fiddle and steel licks lay in the song perfectly. We do this song on a regular basis because the steel part is so great. The climbing melody goes from one end of the neck the other. I like the story on this song. Willie and Roger Miller were into science fiction movies back in the 50's and early 60's. Movies like The Day The Earth Stood Still. They were both inspired to write songs with sci-fi titles. I Just Destroyed the World and When Two Worlds Collide were the result.

Hope I'm not ragging on anyone's religion, but "God" wasn't on the 1962 Ray Price cut. It was the blessedly human Jimmy Day.

Hey Herb,...Who played steel on Bush's cut of that song? Was it the Dickeymeister? Could it have been Rick Price(another monster)? By the way, speaking of Bandoleros, got to play with Lynn Frazier tonight in Austin. Man, what a thrill! He was playing an old Sho-Bud...sounded awesome!

Check out Conway Twitty's version of "I Just Destroyed The World I'm Living In" and just listen to what "MR. John Hughey", done for it! You'll be asking for overs.------------------

Does Claud Grey ring any bells??? I front this tune, and introed it one nite as a Price/Nelson tune and a friend of mine in Nashvegas, who is usually well informed explained that Claud had the first release on it. Now I've been corrected before by Mr. Herb, but I still hear the same things from my friend. (He played bass for Paycheck, for about 7 years.) So I'm assuming he's correct.

Johnny Bush's version of "I've Just Destroyed the World I'm Living In" was the last sessions he did for RCA and he used Curly Chaulker and Buddy Emmons(the only time they played twin steels together was on "Home in San Antone" by Johnny on that session) on that in 1973;of course Big E played on that song. Willie Nelson and Ray Price are credited with writing it; Nelson being first author. It was not an uncommon practice for someone to suggest a phrase or title, then someone else wrote the song and both were then listed as 1st & 2nd authors. As an example, Willie and Emmons were in a Nashville bar with nothing but drunks they didn't know all around them (1961) and Buddy said to Willie,"Are you sure this is where we oughtta be ?". Willie then wrote that song and he placed Buddy as 2nd author! This more than likely was the case with Willie and Ray as co-authors of that song.
