Got this in an email today:Hargus "Pig" Robbins (the greatest) had his first chemotherapy today for hodgkin's lymphoma (my spelling may be way off here); he had malignancy, but there was no spreading, and Vicky tells me that the recovery rate is 99%+, so that is good news. He is going to have to have radiation later. The chemo/radiation will go on for four months. That's about all I know. I hope everybody will keep Pig in their thoughts and prayers, as well as Tommy, Dan, and anyone else starting this New Year in less than good health.[This message was edited by John Macy on 04 January 2000 at 12:30 PM.]

Thanks for the word, John. I really admire his work. It's been said here on the forum, that the formula for a hit country record must include Pig Robbins on the piano. I know he's played with many, many stars, and I get a thrill from those rolling fills on Alan Jackson's records. Best wishes, Pig, for a full recovery and continued success in the recording biz.

"Pig" has long been one of my hero's and my favorite session piano player. His influence, on me and many more of us who play piano, surely cannot me measured. His tremendous talent has been the "standard" for many years in and out of the studio. God speed his total recovery. .....Roy------------------

I picked up an a vinyl album, the other day,by H.P.R.,on Electra.(1979),entitled,"Unbreakable Hearts". SURPRISE!! It's a vocal album."Pig" does a commendable job of vocalizing. I met him,for the first time, when we were doing the "Pickin' On Shot" tribute album. Neat guy. ------------------

His playing style has been a great lesson for me, in patience and when to deliver.

Pig and I have worked together many times in the studio, he has played on many sessions that I produced. He has a most remarkable ear and you only have to run a song once and he's ready to do it. As you know, Pig is blind and one day I was walking behind Columbia Records and I saw pig driving a car down the alley, of course someone was sitting beside him telling him which way to turn the wheel, what a guy!!!!!! God speed your recovery Pig----Walter Haynes
