Since the web is loaded with a zillion Midi files, I have started to practice with them. I found a site where one can simply type in the name of a song & the Midi finder pulls the Midi file up for me & I download it & use it to practice with. I have Band In A Box but for those who dont, this is the next best thing
Listen to the example Midi file below.
What do ya think??

What are the websites that you get your MIDI files from. I haven't been able to find much country / swing stuff. Mostly rock.

I have recieved some E mail from some forum members saying they could not hear the Midi file. I forgot that some browsers can not support embeded Midi file sounds so I have also added another tagg so hopefully they can hear the file now as background music
Also I have added the URL where you can pick up the Midi files. There is a 400 limit on files, but that will keep ya busy for a while

Hi Rick,
I've been using midi's for quite a while now, and enjoy them. I've found some really good "classic" country midi's that have no lead at all on them, making them ideal for play along tracks.

I'm sure all who follow your lead here will appreciate you telling them about it.

Rick, I couldn't get your midi on my old Mac, but I did go to the midi site and there is some of the best country midi files I have ever heard !! I don't know why I can get them and not yours, but I would advise the younger members to try them !! My old Mac has a good built-in sound card and the sounds are really good !! Thanks

Cool. I got a program for $15 called "Votetra
Recording Station" that has an excellent (Best I've Seen) midi mixer, plus will record two wave tracks along with your midi , & has S.M.P.T.E. timing. What a deal. http://www.voyetra-turtle-beach.com/site/voy/rs/rs.asp

Good Idea Rick!

Also, here's a good site for country midi-files. At last count, there were a couple of hundred...with a LOT of oldies!

Simply click HERE!

I'm also on a hunt for sites which have collections of really good MIDI tracks for practicing steel. One I've found is at http://www.midimight.com/country.htm.

I can play these files just fine on my CPU midi player, but it would be nice to be able to play them in BIAB.

Dos anybody know how to do this? I downloaded a couple of them and they sounded fine, but when I tried to open the files via BIAB, their titles did not appear to be recognized.

Mylos....

The BIAB format IS different from MIDI format. Thats why you cain't play them using BIAB.

I am working on a way to convert these two forms.

Other than that , I am haveing a ball with all this midi file stuff, practic and using BIAB.

The best thing about midi files is that if you have a good music software program, you can mute the individual parts and strip 'em down to the rhythm section. And you can slow down the tempo if needed.
