![]() ![]() I have heard about this recording for quite awhile, but have never heard it. Does anybody know where it can be purchased? [This message was edited by Tommy M on 14 February 2000 at 05:18 PM.] |

![]() ![]() Does anybody know that it was Jimmy Day for sure? I'm almost certain that it was Emmons. The tone and technique doesn't match what I know of Jimmy day.The only reason I say this is that Intro was one of the first ones I ever learned, and my steel instructor(Duane Brown from Texas and New Mexico)always said it was Emmons,so I've been wondering about that in the back of my mind, not that it really matters, its a fine piece of steel guitar recording in my opinion |

![]() ![]() Buddy Emmons played on two cuts on the "Sound Of A Heartache" LP, "Sound Of A Heartache" and "A Moment Isn't Very Long", which were, by the way, originally a 45 on the New Star label. Jimmy Day played on the rest of the LP, including "Farewell Party". Incidentally, John says the idea for the modulation on that song was (guitar player) Jerry Reed's. Best wishes, Jim |

![]() ![]() James Clayton Day did indeed play that loooong break(@ 60 seconds) that is the standard to which any version of "Farewell Party" must be compared. I've written about this before. Buddy Emmons did play only the two songs(mentioned above) and Jimmy did the rest. This was Johnny Bush's first album on STOP Records after leaving his drumming job with Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys in 1967. Call Johnny in San Antonio, TX at 1-210-696-4415 for the CD and I'll bet he'll even autograph it for you! Don't forget to also get his most recent CD "Talk To My Heart" which has Jimmy Day knocking you out on every song and is the last thing he ever recorded, Bobby Caldwell on guitar. |

![]() ![]() I read in Steel Guitar World some time back that Johnny Bush claimed that Weldon Myrick played on all his recordings how right that is I don't know. Emmons plays on Hot Texas Country Talk to my Heart is a lovely CD only spoiled by the noisy drummer. |
