Met Terry several years ago in Nashville one afternoon at a Steel Guitar shop owned by Clem Schmit (I hope that name's right) Weldon and Ruggsy was there too. Then later that week back stage at the opry where he was playing for Connie Smith. He was the closest thing to "Big E" that I ever heard on C6th (IMHO) can anyone tell me where he is now ? Thanks--Bill Myrick

Bill.
Terry was with Reba last I heard.
Talked to him a few years ago at Columbus AFB
when he was with Ricky Skaggs. He is a great steel player and one nice gentleman.

Last I heard Terry Crisp was playing steel for Reba McIntire.

Several years ago he had an album out for awhile titled "Burnt to a Crisp." I would like to find a copy of it. anyone know where a copy could be located. Yes, he's a fantastic steel player.

Bill;
It was Clem Schmitz. The store was the Nashville Steel Guitar Emporium. Terry, Weldon & Hal were going to be instructors for the steel school Clem was organizing. I think they had a few classes, but I don't know, for sure. I got my first all-pull Emmons LeGrande from Clem just after he moved from Minneapolis, MN to Mt. Juliet, just outside of Nashville. I had talked to Clem and asked how the store was doing, and he said that it was going nowhere. He said he was just making enough to keep the doors open and that he hoped the school did well. It was shortly after that that I stopped by his house on a Sunday and he told me that he closed the store. I saw him a few more times after that, but since 82 or 83, I haven't seen him at all. As far as I know he vanished.
As far as Tery Crisp: He's a great player and a really nice guy. The first time I met him was during Fan Fair in '77. I heard one afternoon in Nashville that there was going to be a big jam at the Rhinestone Cowboy, a downtown night club. Jimmy Bryant, Johnny Gimble and Buddy Emmons were supposed to bet there. When I got there they had just started, but that wasn't Buddy. I talked to Jimmy Bryant first and he said that Buddy wasn't going to be able to make it, so they got the next best thing, Terry Crisp. Terry played great. We talked steel for a few minutes and he was back to the bandstand. I had to get going, but I have never forgotten the name: Terry Crisp.
(I did finally catch Buddy playing at one of the artist showcases, I don't remember who he was playing with, but he sounded great, too).

My best,
Ernie

A few days ago, I was at a ballpark in Hendersonville, watching my daughter play softball. At one point I glanced over to my side, and there stood Terry, who had quietly sidled up next to me.His son was playing baseball on another field. We hadn't seen each other in almost 2 years.(It's easy for even good friends to lose contact with each other,running in different circles in this business.)

Anyway, he's still with Reba. They were leaving that night for 4 days in Vegas, after which he said they only have a few more dates booked for the rest of the year.

He mentioned a new solo project that he's been working on, and at least SOME of it is pretty country. I didn't get any details about release date etc., but you might want to keep an eye peeled for it in the next few months.
