![]() ![]() Hello Forumites, Can anyone (including Mr. Emmons) tell me if Buddy Emmons will be with the Everly Brothers in Hyanis Massachusetts(Cape Cod) in August? The Everlys are scheduled to play in the Melody Tent in Hyanis Ma, and was not sure if Buddy tours with them everywhere. thanks so much Smitty ------------------ |

![]() ![]() WOW, Buddy Emmons in Hyannis? Fantastic! What are the dates in August? Would you guys believe I have never seen or heard Buddy live (missed you B.E.in Rhode Island years ago, blame Jay Andrews for that one)? Harry "Just In From Another Galaxy" Teachman |

![]() ![]() The first time I saw the Big E was in Pembroke, Mass. in 1977. What a great show it was! It was produced by a local steel guitar enthusiast and it was held at the Pembroke Arena. The show featured Buddy in two sets, backed-up by some hot players from the Boston area. He played mostly tunes from the Black Album and other classic steel guitar stuff, and he backed-up a couple of singers too. I also saw Buddy at Luca Music in Providence, RI in 1981?? He played right in the store... a very intimate, up close concert. dougb ------------------ |

![]() ![]() I guess the first of many times I've seen BE was in El Paso,1967(?) Ray Price and Willie were touring together.Jimmy Day played for Willie and Ray Price(the best dammed singer that ever worked for Buddy).Buddy was tuning up and Jimmy was standing there talking to him with his foot on the first pedal.I think Jimmy really enjoyed trying to distract Buddy. However they really enjoyed each others playing.Never seemed to be competitive just enjoyed and shared a bunch of great "licks". By the way you'll never hear "Another Woman" kicked off like that again.Ray |

![]() ![]() Hello Forumites,
The great thing about this is that I have been playing steel now for about 5 years and I have yet to make it to a convention, so this will be my first time believe it or not to see a Steel Guitar player Live! I have only seen players on video or on the Opry. take care, and hope to see some of you there!!

![]() ![]() Ernie and Smitty, Thanks for the info on those dates for the Buddy Emmons concert with the Everlys.I have about 3 other people that want to go. Doug, That steel player was Bruce Cogburn (correct spelling?), I think. Mike Idhe was involved also. Harry |

![]() ![]() Harry, Yes, that was his name. He ran a "mail order" steel guitar business called The Pembroke Picking Parlor. I wonder what ever happened to him. Mike Idhe may have been involved in that show too, as the the backup band was made up of some Berklee guys. Mike has been a great supporter of the steel guitar from way back. I remember that the guitar player that day was really hot. And John Lincoln Wright did some vocals. But it was mainly Buddy doing instrumentals, and that was inspirational, to say the least. dougb [This message was edited by Doug Beaumier on 25 May 2000 at 09:54 PM.] |

![]() ![]() I also saw Buddy with The Everly Bros. back in 1993 at the Big E (really! the Eastern States Exposition) in West Springfield, Mass. It was a great concert. Albert Lee was playing guitar, and the Everlys mentioned Buddy and Albert many times during the show. They even let them do some picking now and then! And the Everly's harmony was awesome. They did one hit song after another. It was a quite an experience. dougb ------------------ |

![]() ![]() I was thinking that was 94 at The Eastern States Expo Doug but you are right 93 was the last year I worked there. I took Hankey back stage and set him up to talk to Buddy who was lounging around with A.L.in the colloseum entrance. Got to see both Shows and would have seen twelve more if they had them. ------------------ |
