![]() ![]() I attended the show last night and enjoyed it very much - free tickets. The harmonica player was great, as were all the musicians. My only complaint was that I rarely heard the PSG player, he was so far back in the mix. He never got to take a ride or an intro. If you are considering seeing the show expexting to hear some steel - forget it. There were instruments playing and backup singers that I never saw on stage (tape I suppose). At first I thought the whole show was canned, but the musicians were actually involved. To those of you who have seen the show, were the musicians playing to a taped accompaniment? Thanks, Mel |

![]() ![]() I saw the show in April and agree with you the Steel Picker sets up there with 2 amps facing him and the audioman forgets he's there. I did not detect any pre-recorded stuff.(keyboards I suppose). The younglady with the Fiddle was outstanding and also the guitarist. Show was much better with Red Foley's grandson as host. I would rate it as the best show in the area. When are we going to see Herbie in another show? Vern ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Paul Delicato is the host of Country Tonight in Pigeon Forge. He sure don't have that COUNTRY SOUND when he sings or even talks. . .He sounds like one of them New Yorkers. Last summer, when I saw the show they didn't even have a Steel Player at the time. I complained to "Delicato" myself after the show. Maybe my bitchin and complaining as well as that from others like you guys influenced them to hire Junior Mercer. I now hear that Junior isn't being utilized like he should be. I'd say lets blame it on Paul Delicato, because he runs the show. I think Pigeon Forge needs to have a strictly Steel Guitar theme'd attraction for people like me. Don't let them New York type premadonnas produce all the shows that call themselves "Country". When I go to Pigeon Forge, I wanna hear some good Steel! ![]() ![]() I went to see the show in April. I too was disappointed. They only let the steel man be heard on one song. He did great on it, but they could have used him on a lot more. I personally don't care for all the dancing being promoted. Maybe some do, but I go to hear the steel man, naturally. I don't mind the singers, if they are not irritating on the way to the lead break. I liked the "Bubba" best of all. He did great on his Elvis impersonation. I believe Herby told me the steel man as Jr. Mercer. |

![]() Hi there. I just saw Pigeon Forge mentioned, and I just thought I'd throw in that I am going to be filling in for a fiddle player at the Smokey Mountain Jamboree, June 6-17, so if anyone will be in the area, drop by and say hello! (And they DO have a steel player at the show!) "The Fiddlist," |

![]() ![]() I saw the Smokey Jubilee show this weekend, and there was plenty of steel guitar. Yes, Gary McVay sang quite a bit, but he played steel for at least half of the show. They played Patsy, Merle Haggard, George Jones, et al. I would recommend this show! Mason |

![]() ![]() Herby Wallace mentioned at the Tulsa show that there 9 (I think) music shows in Pigeon Forge and only 2 of them are still using a Steel Guitar. |

![]() ![]() Guy's it's a cry'n shame, that you can't hear more of junior mercer play.. junior & I have been friend's forever, and he is a killer steel man. can play some pretty stuff, or just flat burn it up on speed... We talked with him back in march, and he is aware of not getting to pick much. But it is paying the bill's for him, and if anyone deserves to be on that stage, it is junior. if and when the time come's they give him a real good part to pick.. Trust me! He will do us all very proud! just wanted to jump in & say hey, to you all! ![]() ![]() ![]() Mike |
