![]() ![]() MCEDITOR and C Dixon, Think somewhere in a previous thread, The Big E said the intro was created as a result of Faron saying "play something like this" then "singing" a concept of the phrase. He also said it was played on his Bigsby. IMHO, Faron's version beats all others. It's Faron's World, we only live here.... Keep on pickin! |

![]() ![]() I think this is Off topic but since it is posted here could anyone post a tab of the intro or/and the break here ??? I really love this tune, was it the Bigsby through a Standel ??? Andy |

![]() ![]() I could be wrong; but I think that's Joe Mack Vincent on Faron's "Sweet Dreams". Buddy will know for sure, of course. Joe played a stringmaster on Faron's "I've Got Five Dollars and It's Saturday Night". That is a Bigsby with one pedal (E-major to A-major change) on "Sweet Dreams" and I'm pretty sure it's Joe. ![]() ![]() According to the fantastic booklet in the Bear Family 5 CD box the steel player is Buddy Emmons on all sessions from April to August 1956 and this includes also "Sweet Dreams". Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was the first time a PSG was used on one of Farons recordings. Andy |

![]() ![]() Tele, You've stirred my curiosity. I could very well be wrong, of course. Buddy Emmons has been on so many recordings. Next time he's on line let's remember to ask him. Rick |

![]() ![]() Jerry, "tattle tale tears" was Jimmy Day !! He was on Farons first two Capitol sessions, then came Bob Foster for a long time, Joe Vincent from 1955 to early 1956, then Buddy Emmons....after that he hardly used a steel on his records up to 1958 when Ben Keith was the steeler for him. I hope that helps. Andy |
