I have always loved the old standard by Santo and Johnny called Sleep Walk. About 18 months ago, I decided to create and dedicate a website to the song and to the artists. Not long ago Johnny of Santo and Johnny (who still performs) found the site and emailed me. He has since called me and continues to maintain contact by visiting the site. It is now the official internet fansite for SLEEP WALK and Santo and Johnny. The url for my site is http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Nook/5534
Drop by and visit and sign the guestbook.
See ya!

Very nice wewbsite indeed.

I can remeber well that summer in 1959 when I first heard SLEEPWALK and played it on an E tuned dobro with a pick-up.

I sure like to know if Santo's steel was tuned to E.

My sound card won't play the Sleepwalk wav.
I have Real Audio but it won't work either.
Does this require an MP3 player?

The Santo and Johnny site is worth checking out. I really dig the song "Sleep Walk," too.

I purchased a cassette tape of Johnny playing a bunch of classic tunes; it's titled Santo and Johnny Go International. I listen to it a lot. The tape is still available through Tom Bradshaw's Pedal Steel Guitar Products in California.

I believe that Johnny was originally the guitar player until the duo broke up. Santo played the steel on the Santo & Johnny recordings.

great site !
I love the sound he gets from the steel - from the pics it looks like a Fender double neck (stringmaster ?).
I've got to try & learn this one ...

In case anyone is interested in seeing SANTO AND JOHNNY nominated to the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you can go to my Sleep Walk - Santo and Johnny website and speak your mind on the subject.

I've just added the code for contacting the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame and the R&R Hall of Fame link is still there.

If ever anyone deserved credit for making a undeniable impression on the music scene over several generations - Santo and Johnny deserve it. Let's help them get the recognition they have earned!

What a thrill it must be to build a site in honor of a legendary song like Sleepwalk, and then have one of the artists contact you, with their approval no less!

Your site is great. Excellent design and all.

I WAS VERY YOUNG WHEN SLEEPWALK WAS POPULAR, BUT I CERTAINLY REMEMBER HEARING IT ON MY BROTHERS RECORD PLAYER...RECORD PLAYER, MY HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED. EVEN INTO THE SIXTIES YOU COULD STILL HEAR THIS ONE, ON CAR RADIOS, DANCES LIKE AMERICAN BANDSTAND IN PHILLY AND PEELING OUT WINDOWS ON WARM SUMMER EVENINGS. OH WHAT A SOUND..IN CONJURES UP ALL KINDS OF MEMORIES OF A WONDERFUL TIME IN MUSIC HISTORY...FOR ME IT WAS THE BEST...SLEEPWALK IS TRULY A CLASSIC.WHERE IS SANTO?

Only #1 hit for a steel guitar tune 1959! Wait until you hear Buzz Evans live version to be released at Scotty's Convention. Maybe we could coaxe him into playing it!

There is no mention of Santo on the web site. Is he still around and if so, what's he up to?

I used to have a 45 with "The Strangers" playing Sleepwalk. The six string takes the "bridge", with a nice little Jazzy feel to it and the Steel work was super, of course.

Hey Sleepwalk,
Did you remove the real audio wave of "SLEEPWALK" from your homepage. I noticed today that I'm no longer hearing it.
My wife and I were really enjoying listening to that song while going to sleep.

I enjoyed your website very much. Although I am much too young to have heard the song when it was first released, I have always loved it. I love playing it as well. Thanks.

I heard Ricky Davis play Sleepwalk about a month ago. It sounded so good I pulled it out of my memory banks, brushed it up a little and had the band I'm in stick it in one of the sets. People love it and always dance to it. It's fun to play also.

Sleepwalk is the first song I learned on the steel (nonpedal). I imagine I'm not the only one who can say that! :-)
they also did a blazing version of Caravan. I've only heard it a couple of times, but it is great.

I have a CD entitled "The Best of Santo and Johnny" on the Stardust label. Looks like it was an import from Canada (Stardust 1027).

It has 24 tunes, and worth picking up. My favorite song on the disc is "Tenderly." Does anyone know what tuning he is using to play this? His style is smooth and mellow on this cut...it's really a great version!
I can't figure this song out though...

Someone, please help!

I'd like to know what tuning he used on 'Sleepwalk'. I can sort of do it in Open E but he has a couple of 2 string harmonies that I can't get in that tuning.
Any ideas ?
