I just returned from the Willie Nelson's 4th of July picnic here in Austin, (it is still going on as I write this) and Herb did a great job playing with Johnny Bush. My favorite was Whiskey River. The steel was "up front" on Johnnys set. Herb is a super player and if you dont have either of his CD's you should add them to your collection. (There werent too many other acts with a steel today.) Justin Trevino played bass and sang harmony with Johnny, and as usual he did a great job also. Wish he could have had a set of his own. Ray Price was coming on later, but it was enough sun for one day for this old man. |

Larry, you're too kind. But were you at the show? I didn't see you there! ![]() Well, normally Bush plays for longer than 20 minutes... in fact, a couple of our medleys are longer than 20 minutes themselves... so it was hard to sit around and wait in the hot sun and then suddenly get it up and going and shut it down after only 20. But the band, who's played with Bush for a long time, made it relatively easy. I should mention that besides Justin, we had Forumite Scott Moon and Rick Turpin on fiddles, Waymond McBride on excellent lead guitar, and 1970's Bandolero drummer Smiley "I gotta have it" Reynolds on the pots and pans. Somehow when I sit next to Scott Moon, things usually turn out good for me. Thanks for the compliments, Larry. Seriously, not Hollywood talk either. I 'preciate it very much. ------------------ |
