![]() ![]() I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, however if its wrong somebody move it.I have this recording, but for some of you people that have never heard Jay McDonald try the link below and click on Release Me.The tune was on a Buck Owens album "On the Bandstand".There is also some great stuff on this site. http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/album/649/jukebox/favorites.html ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Curt: Being a Bakersfield boy, I read your post with heightened interest. You are right on the mark! I've been posting the same thoughts about Jay for months. His solo rendition of Release Me is IHMO the best ever on record. His fills and turnarounds on Sweethearts In Heaven (Buck duet with Don Rich) and Saw Mill are incredible too. The Fender 1000 just rings with emotion. You just don't hear steel played like that anymore. If anyone doubts this, just pick up the "On the Bandstand" CD reissue (circa 1963) thru Sundazed. Play it loud and enjoy ! |
