I can't remember his first name but a real fine steel player whose last name is Killen has been with him for years. But then I haven't seen his show in about a year and a half. I hope he's still with him becaue he sure added to his band. I think Jones only plays on Fri, Sat and Sundays these days. But thats pretty good for someone who'll be 69 years old I think it's next month. I won't be 69 til march. I believe Tom Killen is still steelin' for George "Jonesy" Jones.I had the privilledge of helping to front with a band one time in the mid 80's for George's Act. Tom was with him then too. Our bass player said that Tom had a brother who was a real great bass player too, years ago. He had grown up in the same area of southeastern, MO as the Killen brothers. The drummer who was also George's bus driver was from MO too. His name I believe was Bobby Burkhead. George has had some of the best steel players to pick a steel. when I was playing secular music I dreamed of a gig like the Jones Band or pickin' for ET. I used to think that would make me content but none of that satisfied me as some of you already are founding out or have found out. Now I play and sing almost all Gospel music. I really dig the Praise and Worship music too. George sings a great Gospel tune when he wants. He is without a doubt one of the greatest of all time country singers and I love his singin'. He and my good buddy Dale Sledd (Osborne Brothers Band) were friends too. God Bless You, Terry J. Wood

Thanks guys for the info on Tom Killen. I went to see George Jones a few days ago, and he was great, but the sound crew was bad and you couldn't hardly hear the steel guitar at all. The stuff I did hear from Tom was great. Thanks again, Danny

I am going to Nashville the first week in November, all the way from Norway. I have a ticket to the George Jones show in Ryman on the 3. Anyone else going? Would be nice to meet some other steelers, since I hardly know anybody in Nashville, and have never been in the states before. What songs do he play these days? George is my favourite singer, so the concert will truly/hopefully be a dream come true.
