I think it's Don Felder, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think Al Perkins contributed to the early albums, Bernie did play a stringbender on some tracks {ie standard guitar with Parsons/White Stringbender device}, while the 1975 album onwards it was pretty much Don Felder on lap steel.

On that song it was Bernie Leadon on pedal steel, according to AMG. I would believe it.

Actually Dan, I believe you are right, you've stirred up some memories of an interview Bernie did, I think it might even be online at the Eagles website {sorry I lost the link a while back}

Looking at the records-Bernie Leadon was the steel player early on. Al Perkins played on "Ol' 55"- on the same Lp it was Bernie Leadon on "Best of My Love".."After the Thrill is Gone" is Bernie Leadon. Don Felder played pedal steel after B.L. left. Glenn Frey was always the "slide" player until Joe Walsh joined..I don't think they ever used lap/non-pedal steels...from what I have seen anyway. I remember on the old TV shows they were on, Bernie Leadon had his Tele w/ the stringbender, and a steel...but they never showed him playing the steel..that I can remember..

Don Felder played the steel on the "Hell freezes over" tour and did a really good job.
If I can dig out my vinyl copies, I'll check the studio players. Even Joe Walsh played pedal steel. I don't think he ever did with the eagles, but he played on a few James Gang songs.

When I was with Gretsch in 75, We built a Sho-Bud with an Eagle Inlay! I'm quite sure it was for Joe Walsh! ;Al Udeen
