Crowbear, yes...I would go hear Stephane every time he played in Santa Barbara, Ca. since about 1979. I was lucky to catch him on the tour when David Grisman's band was backing him, and (a very young) Mark O'Conner was the guitarist. In later later tours, he had among other musicians the excellent Scottish jazz guitarist Martin Taylor as an accompanist.
Another CD you would like is "Together at Last", a 1980's recording of Stephane and Vassar Clement, which also features Doug Jernigan on jazzy PSG and Martin Taylor on acoustic archtop guitar. Hot!
One lesser-known but top notch dude to keep an ear open for is the West Coast fiddler Phil Salazar, who taught swing fiddle to the French classical violinist Giles Apap, who after studying and playing classical nearly all his life, asked Phil "teach me to play dirty" LOL!.
Giles later formed a Euro-Style swing band, the Transylania Mountain Boys, whose outrageous blend of Jazz, Swing, and Classical styles is musically something out of this world.
Claude Williams has been playing hot jazz fiddle for over six decades, and recently cut an excellent track of Horace Silver's "The
Preacher", on the Rounder label.
The Swing Shift Band/Emmons/Pennington records are among my favorites. Too bad the title "Goin Out Swingin'" turned out to be a prophetic ststement.
If you are unable to get those other two titles, e-mail me, I think I have some promo CD's of those.

Rich;
That's why it was called, "Goin' Out Swingin'". There wasn't any more being planned, but that was true for most of the series. Ray and Buddy decided at the '98 convention to do, "one more", but then Ray sold the company and it eventually went out of business. So, sadly, no "one more".

Bruce Heffner (Wally's Sales And Service) did indeed purchase all remaining copies from the catalog. If you want to buy a legitimate CD with tab, you need to go to him.

"Wally's Sales And Service" is among the vendors links here on the forum.

I think bootleg's should ONLY be considered when every last one of the legimite copies are no longer available anywhere. At that point, how can you fault a picker for wanting to hear important musical history?
