I have a Sho-Bud Pro III 8+4 with serial no. 17540. It has square corners, narrow pedals, nylon tuners with straight knee levers and tuners are squared off on the end. Does anyone have any idea of the year of manufacture.

Mario,

I had a brand new Sho-Bud Model 6150 L.D.G.
in 1983. It had Sperzel tuners, small keyhead,
and straight levers. Triple raise and double lower. Serial no. was 17782. It was built mid-year, Bobbe Seymour once told me that at
that time they were putting out about 50 guitars a month. You do the math.

I have a Sho~Bud Pro III that was new in 1977. I will get the serial number off it. I also had a 1978 Super Pro (model 6166) bought new with a serial #13378. I currently have a (8X6)late model (80's) 6166 Super Pro serial #17921. I also will look at my late model Pro I for a number. Someone should be compiling this data for Sho~Bud history!

My Super-Pro is number 17930. I was told by the first owner that it was a 82 mod., but I guess it might be from 83.

Duane Becker seems to have a pretty good handle on dating Sho~Buds. You can probably locate his email address if you perform a search on here. Also, Duane Marrs and Bobbe Seymour are very knowledgable. I don't believe that there was a "true serial # - dating method", used by the company. It appears that you can get "close" to the year; mostly by identifying cabinet design(rounded or squared apron corners), keyhead and knee-lever shape(square or curved), pedal size, and type of changer.
