I recently posted some pix of Junior Brown at Peggy's-heard from a lot of folks!

So if you played there-or hung out there (as I did), let's hear from you. Got any good stories? Who did you play there with?

Hey, John... Saw your previous post & will reply since you've egged me on here. I hung from time to time at Peggy's during the '70's , early & late. In fact, I worked with & knew Peggy out at the IBM plant. Also was a 'groupie' with the "Gary Lynn & Sundowners Band" which played out there a few times. Preston Bollinger was one heckava lead guitar player that could mimic a steel pretty good. Peggy was a gracious lady. Do you know if she's still around. I'd heard her husband had passed on some time ago. Thanks for the memories!!

When I was playing with the Dusters in their early days, we werent really good enough to get the established country gigs around the Denver/Boulder area. So Dusty and BBQ Bob would usually go looking for the funkiest little bars to sell on the idea of having live entertainment. They wanted real-deal honky tonks, not trendy "too hip" clubs. I remember feeling horrified when I'd first walk in to some of those places... cuz I was still a tree hugging 70's hippie at heart. (of course they made me cut my hair, but thats another story)

A few of those little dives.....like Peggy's HiLo.....ended up becoming thriving little venues because of Dusty's "vision"

I graduated from Boulder High in '79, then went off to school so I didn't get much of the experience. But I do have a tape of Leon McAuliffe playing there with Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers, with special guest Rose Knuckles. What a sweet night that must have been.
