Last night I was watching the Gaither Gospel on TNN.I couldn't beleive my eyes and ears on the Steel work watching Wanda on a Sho-Bud Pro 1. I have been around Steels and players for years and it takes a lot to get my attention. Believe me the tone, style etc. Wand was using blew my mind.If you haven't heard her you are missing something. Ed, she was married to an internationally world famous steel guitarist for a while so you would expect her to be able to play. I met her, her husband and her little daughter last Saturday and aside from being one of the most accomplished musicians today, she is a very nice person and is proud of her family.

By the way, didn't her ex-husband teach you how to play steel thumb style? You should consider having a "pick off" with your mentor sometime at some steel event.

Wanda is a very talented lady. Steel, fiddle, or guitar. What more could you ask. Jody.

Guess I shouldnt post here and now however I'm just crase enough to do so.Wanda is now married to a very great bass guitarest and they have a little girl, she is very happy Im told and she should be! Wanda has always had a very busy studio career in Nashville.I personally dont know any one any finer.
I remember giving Wanda her first "steel lesson", In One hour and Only one hour,She was playing "I Love You Because " just like Chalker along with "Crazy" and several other tunes well enough to play them on the "Nashville Now " TV show! She stood up from behind the steel after mastering these tunes and said "steel guitar is the easist instrument I've ever tried to play.(She plays over eight studio quality!)Maurice and Buddy were the only other two players Iv'e ever heard that always played great from the first time they sat down behind it.And yes I'll accept my share for our marriage not working out,(the biggest share)We were both under tremendous strain at the time,Me starting the store and she was making hit records with our group,"Wild Rose" three top 10's If I remember.
I just can't say enough about this persons talent. and no,I haven't talked to her since the divorce ten years ago.If and when I do,she'll have all my deepest respect, and it is deserved.

Ed, I think you were around at this time (86to 87) I remember trying to teach you some thumb style steel about that same period of time, did you ever learn any? I remember trying to get you up on my set in the Lexington steel show a while back but I believe you were busy or somthing. Mike Wierich said he'd like to see us do a set together sometime soon, maybe at the North Tennessee Steel Club show? Nick Reid played there with Mike last time and it was great!
I know everyone woudd love to hear you.
I think Mike needs to set this up,just contact him. Bobbe

What a great idea, square off with steel guitars, not boxing gloves. Friendship is formed from within and cannot be bought or made. I always enjoy seeing friendships rekindled or new ones made and this forum has done that for me. Nick Reed and I are good friends and as Bobbeye said, we played together at the last super jam and Nick picked up the pieces when I dropped the ball. I feel a set with Bobbe and Ed would be a fitting gesture for both. What about it guys?

Don't put me in between 'em! I don't feel like gettin' "beaned" by a 10 string BJS,(BSJ,whatever,) bar.

I remember back in 1983, I was in Winnipeg.
Porter Wagoner was in town and the all-girl
band that backed Porter came into the Downs
Motor Inn while I was playing there with the
Bobby Lalonde Band. We finished a set and
Wanda & a couple of the other girls in the
band came up to us and asked if it would be
alright if they played while we were taking
a break. Well! Wanda ripped off an amazing
instrumental on my Tele that knocked my socks
off! Now, my Tele is known to be really hard
for most folks' to play due to my setup but
it didn't matter to Wanda, she was in great
form! I'll never forget the way she played

Take care!
