I got this pedal for Christmas and have been using it on the steel with good results. Anyone have any experience with it? If it continues to work this well, I may keep it for steel and get another for the 6-string.

Doug.....

I have the same volume pedal.... bought a few years ago. For pedal steel I found that it did not have a very smooth sweep. The pedal gets very hot say the last half inch to full open.... making it difficult for me to keep a steady volume level without sometimes going into overdrive. It seems I have to keep playing with the minimum volume level setting.
I just wish it had a longer smoother sweep to full volume.

Any improvements on the newer one?

Mike

Mike,
You're absolutely right about the taper. They haven't changed that. I'm going to play around with it for a while and might eventually end up going to a Goodrich for the steel.

I've been trying to use the volume pedal a lot less and use my hands more for volume control. Maybe the quirks of this pedal will be beneficial in that regard.

On the plus side, it seems to be pretty quiet and transparent (and it's reasonably priced).

Doug.....

Your right about it being quiet and transparent.... it is actually a very well designed volume pedal... too bad the sweep is so touchy.

Maybe we should send Morley an E- Mail with some suggestions.....

Mike,
Not a bad idea! I'm betting Morley could make the taper optimal for steel at minimum cost. I wonder if they are interested in our segment of the market.

The PVO seems to be a pretty rugged pedal and I've seen them on sale for as low as $70 at times. That's a pretty appealing price!

By the way....

I took mine apart last year to see if any adjustment could be made internally.

No luck there.
