I recently acquired a 3630 and was wondering if anyone could provide some initial settings. The instruction manual left a lot to be desired and, not being a professional musician, the forum is my best source of information. Thanks.

What will you be using it for, live guitar rig, studio tracks, mixdown, etc.? I need this info first, compression can be used in many ways from limiting to special effects. I have 4 stereo compressors in my studio (still not enough) and use them mostly for tracking vocals drums etc.

Thanks John for you reply.

Using it for live guitar work and some home recording. Play rarely but occasionally with groups at church.

Try this setting for guitar,
Threshold -20 Ratio 6:1 Attack 0.1ms Release 500ms Output +10

I use this type of setting for "Chicken' Picken" type playing, guitar volume should be all the way up (on the guitar) use the gate to get rid of hissing noise when your not playing.
