I need help with the two little mini switches on the end plate of a Sho-Bud Pro II They were both broken off in shipping and are in little pieces now! One has a larger "box" than the other, but both seem to have three wires going to them. I was told I could get parts at Radio Shack, but I want to make sure they were the right ones to start with before I go any further. Anyone know what is supposed to go on this guitar and what part numbers would be?Thanks in advance!

Dyke - I have replaced both of my micro switches on my Pro II. One is larger than the other. If I recall correctly, I took my old ones to Radio Shack and had them match them up. I have one that I can read 3A125VAC on, but the other is turned wrong, and I can't see it. I have an old switch that I kept, and it appears to read 10A125VAC.

OK, I had to make sure before you went to the store - The E9th switch is the larger one, and it reads 6A125VAC. The smaller one is on the C6th, and it is the 3A. I was paranoid when I changed them, so I'm pretty sure that's right. Remember, they are 2 position, both ON.

If your pickup is putting out anything near 125 volts, you may be picking too hard.

These are not Part Numbers. Translation: 3A125VAC = 3 amp 125 volts ac 10A125VAC = 10 amp 125 volts ac These numbers have nothing to do with the Function of the switch, just the electrical specifications. You need to know what switching function they are performing and the number of poles. Spst = Single pole single throw = 3 terminals Dpdt= Double pole double throw = 6 terminals look for any other markings on the switch which might give an idea of the switch positions, such as on-off-on. If one of them was the pickup or neck selector, then its most likely that it will be on-on-on. 3 position with the center position connecting both pickup "hot" leads to the Selector terminal usually the center terminal on a single pole switch or Center pair of terminals on a double pole switch. This should have been posted in electronics. ------------------ John

These are not pickup selector switches, there is a large 3 way toggle for that.Anyone know what these switches are really supposed to do? Change the phase of the pickups maybe? Sorry if I posted in the wrong place, I always think of the electronics forum as more to do with amps - and the switches are on the Pedal Steel....

Sho Bud pickups have a coil tap in them. The switch allows you to switch between the full coil, or half of the coil, giving you 2 distinctive Sho Bud tones. And I forgot to add, on the toggle switch, the middle pin goes to the pick up selector and the two outside pins are soldered to the coil tap wires, one on each side. The switch you need is a SPST mini toggle switch, and that can be had at any Radio Scrap or electronics store. [This message was edited by Glenn Austin on 05 March 2002 at 08:01 AM.]
