Hi all, I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on Wailua Steel Guitars' Porta-Steel Econo Style 1. I'm interested 'cause I do alot of river trips and rough travel, and kinda like the idea of something abuseable. See it on their web page: www.aloha.net/~teowen/econo.htm Thanks

It sure looks interesting, sort of like a cross between a Weissenborn and a shoe box. The Real Audio sound file included on that page gives an idea of what the guitar might sound like by itself, but I'd be interested in hearing how it sounds with other guitars. The price is certainly right.------------------ Brad's Page of Steel: www.well.com/~wellvis/steel.html A web site devoted to acoustic & electric lap steel guitars

While I would love to have something small for travel and practice, it would have to have 12 strings like my "real" steel guitar.

I have to admit some skepticism about the sound clip--is it possible for a guitar without any apparent resonator to have such a great trashcan sound? I thought it sounded great but is it really that guitar?BTW--it reminded me of this guitar--did anyone see this on ebay a bunch of months ago? This is cool.
